The end of the world is upon them.
What the hell are they smiling about?

Yeah....I was kind of not getting the seriousness of the situation. That dragon ride was out of place.
I did like Jaime's entry though. He was the best part of the episode for me. And how he looked at Bran. Another scene that I appreciated was one that involved Tormund and Dolorous Edd. Those white walkers do know how to arrange the dead bodies. and that Ned Umber getting animated as a wight really provided one good hilarious moment.

People can smile even when they are facing death.

People can smile even when they are facing death. Nope. Doom and gloom are the only way to be when facing an uphill battle. It helps people remember what they are fighting for...

Wait, my comment taken at face value is wrong, or my sarcastic comment is wrong? He didn't read your sarcasm but you also didn't get the OP's post. Smiling and showing hope in the face of adversity was not the kind of smile he was referring about.
The episode seems to have cheated the audience on many fronts. Taking away the attack by Walkers on the Last Hearth or not showing any meaningful rescue of Yara from Euron ect etc. Instead we got smiling Dany having dragon ride with Jon.

Oh, I read it. I understood it. I stand by the fact that this episode was for smiles. I don't believe there will be many smiles for the next few episodes.

And that it was "an episode for smiles" is your opinion and not a fact. I can understand your enjoyment of the episode given that you claimed in another thread that you see Jon and Dany as a great couple. But for many of us any episode is not for smile or terror. We can enjoy a well-placed smile in the bleakest moments and an aptly executed shock in the happiest moments.

I agree it's my opinion, but it is my opinion on how the characters should act upon meeting up with everybody again. I just don't agree with other people's opinion that there were too many smiles.

They don't know how close it is.
Further, most of them have no idea what they're fighting.
People like Jon and Dany who have endured a lot realize they have to catch these moments when they can.
