The opening weekend has been projected by Box Office Pro as being around $40 to $50 million; lower than Bryan Singer's 2000 film which launched the film series. And its entire domestic run will only be a tad more than $100 million despite costs estimated to be over $200 million.

Way to far out to be any kinds of accurate. I don't expect much out of it, though. I've had to remind people that this movie is still a thing. The normies I mean not the nerds.

I just brought up the fact to some friends a few days ago that Dark Phoenix opens up this Summer. They honestly didn't even remember it was coming out. Told them they postponed it and that finally jogged their memory. One of the more avid watchers of Super Hero Movies was like yeah that's right Sansa is in it. It was an odd conversation.

I guess the trailer didn’t play in his showing, I suppose. It didn’t really get started getting a marketing push until after Disney officially owned Fox.

Now that you mention it they did miss the Trailers before Cap Marvel. I got there on time a few of them did not.

Well Apocalypse already did worse than the original X-Men movie.
This was why I was favour of it being rebooted into the MCU. I said ages ago that this would make even less money still.
Even then $113 million would be pitifully low. Even if Disney hadn't bought Fox this would have been the last one at this rate.

First Class and The Wolverine also did worse than both the original X-Men movie and Apocalypse. They both opened around 50 million like this prediction but were over $113 million in the end.

I can at least understand those because First Class looked pretty crap based on the marketing and it was a prequel in the 60's without any of the main actors. The Wolverine wasn't a proper X-Men movie either. This has 8 and 6 years of inflation on those two movies and they still expect it to do far worse.

So The Wolverine not being a proper X-Men movie wasn’t a factor. Especially, when the original X-Men trilogy was really a Wolverine series. The high end estimate is 55 million. Even with inflation they aren’t that far from that number. Both being at 61 million based on Box Office Mojo’s numbers. However, after reading the article their estimates are largely based on the idea that fans matter in regards to Box Office. Which we all know isn’t true as shown by Venom, along with the comparison between movie ticket sales and comic sales which is tens of millions vs tens of thousands. Fans are not even 1% of the people who watch these movies.

I lost quite a bit of interest in it when i learned Sophie Turner would be starring. I know she was cast to bring in the GoT boy-fans, but I dont' think she can act and she has zero charisma.
