Anyone with any idea on how powerful his "flaming" sword maybe? Just what can he do to white walkers? Nightman , Winter_King , CoolJGS☺ , SetoSince this is a fairly technical question that most people might not have answers to I am reverting to you guys to give any relevant answers.

His flaming sword is real (I think in the book it's fake and he has to keep replacing it) so he should be able to do quite a bit of damage. He's like a one eyed Jedi with a lightsaber.
He seems like an obvious casualty of war although he should be able to give Jon some advice regarding being a zombie.
I don't expect he'll survive the battle and his priest is gone.

So do you think his flaming sword can kill a white walker? May be some blessings of the red god is involved. I don't think it is made up of valyrian steel.

It's been a long time since I read the books but what I remember is that it's normal sword in flames.
I don't know how well it works against Walkers. The books seem to imply that only the Wights are vulnerable to fire with the Others only being killed by draongsteel (Suspected to be Valyrian steel) and dragon glass.
The White Walkers on the show seemed to have some sort influence on fire with a least two examples of White Walkers reducing the flames that were blocking their path.

While I think fire could kill white walkers in theory nothing has been able to get past their cold. I imagine he’s better suited for wight killing.

I do recall Thoros needing to replace his swords a lot. I guess the fire ruins them after time. But i could be wrong.
Not sure if theres a significant strength other than the fact that its on fire.

I decided to find out the answer to the same question and found that the guy who plays Dondarrion gave an interview two days ago. It seems how the sword works is different in the show than in the books. You guys were right about the book. In the book, the sword works on blood magic. Beric rubs his thumbs over the sword and it causes fire. In the show there is a different method:

No explanation has been given to us in the show that gives hint that his sword can kill the Walkers. Yeah, it could come handy in killing a few wights in seconds.
Although I do like to point out that the legendary sword of the prince who was promised is supposed to be the Lightbringer. That is a flaming sword if I recall correctly. But Beric's flaming sword is not the Lightbringer although it may have some power.

Lightbringer is the reason I think they can be killed by fire. The thing is that they don’t explain it. There is a spell that can do it although it takes a sacrifice and didn’t work that well for Stannis. To me it just looks like a sword on fire.

I bet that while regular fire can't kill White Walkers that green liquid, Dragon's Fire, can kill them.

I'll piggyback your comment and add that Beric is already dead in the books.
