Love that show. I've been a fan for years so I decided to get the complete series on DVD. Well worth it. What's everyone else think about this great series?

The series was pretty low-rent compared to The Twilight Zone or Tales From The Crypt, but had some real standouts. The first one that comes to mind is Ronee Blakley falling in love with a video game cabinet (?) and another one where a fireplace grows arms or something?

Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But... there is, unseen by most, an underworld, a place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit... a Darkside.
I liked it. I remember it coming on after the Sunday Sports Final on the ABC affiliate in Atlanta for many years when I was a kid. Midnight or later. There would be back to back episodes.

Overall a fun series. Occasionally it had some good episodes... I'm all about the horror anthology shows. I enjoyed watching the other "Thriller" show hosted by Anthony Perkins. Plus "Tales of the unexpected" on Amazon Prime.

Dude - that intro is one of my favorites. Creepy as hell. This anthology series is a like a lot (i.e. Twilight Zone, Tales From the Crypt, Alfred Hitchcock, etc) - it had it's fair share of 'misses' - but also it's gems. Love the 2 Halloween eps, the ep with the older couple preparing a 'human stew', ......

Agreed that its opening sequence was brillant. I used to recite it all the time.
My favorite episode was an early one where a young Christian Slater and his mom try to convince his deceased (and decaying) grandfather that he really is dead. I believe black pepper and a napkin were instrumental...

Yes, very much so. There was a time in the early 90s when I was out of work and all I would do to pass the time away was watch Darkside, Crypt etc. You have to wade through some mediocre ones to get to the real good eps, but well worth it. Twilight Zone always the daddy but these similar horror themed shows have great merit.

I haven’t seen any episodes in years (I saw the reruns), but scenes from two episodes are indelible in my mind: the one where the Devil, a lipsticked man with white makeup and evening attire, comes to rip a man’s heart out, and the one where a woman sews her mouth shut to stop eating food, which has become sentient for her.
Getting shudders just thinking about those. Terrifying, at least when I saw them as a kid—and, thus, effective.

It played in syndication around here a long time ago, but broadcast during daytime hours.

Not sure how I'm unaware of that.

This is one of those tv series that passed me by. Curious in checking it out though. However ‘Monsters’ is definitely a TV series I remember watching every now and then which was similar in style.

Surprisingly the practical FX had its moments, but the lack of money can show in its limited use of sets & props.
