In terms of a movie/role combo... Maverick would be my #1 choice of hers with Contact being #2. although Carnage is a solid movie I tend to think of her a bit less in it.
but basically those three movies (Carnage/Maverick/Contact) are the only ones worth mentioning for me personally even though I am sure some will mention The Silence of the Lambs (1991) etc.

The Accused Contact Silence Of The Lambs Sommersby (her declaration during the trial is electrifying) Anna And The King
She has also done some excellent work as a character actor in small roles. One example is from the French film A Very Long Engagement. Another, she is excellent (and with a little more screen time could have stolen the movie) as the fixer for rich assholes in Spike Lee’s Inside Man.
I don’t think her recent starring role in Hotel Artimis has been seen very much. Jodie is magnificent in it. A wonderful performance which alone is worth the rental.

I actually recently watched Taxi Driver and Panic Room, and thought she was great in both films. Talented actress.

She is my favourite actress and has been for a long time.
I would like to recommend the movie The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane(1976). She is so good in this.

For a while, I actually hadn't seen much of her filmography. But since then, I've corrected that. Still need to see Nell, The Accused, Taxi Driver, and I suppose I'll like Anna and the King.

One of my favorite actresses. Absolutely love her. Earlier today, I watched an extended interview piece she recorded for the 'The South Bank Show' to promote 'Nell' (1994). This show was presented by Melvyn Bragg (I'm not a fan) and scored by Andrew Lloyd Webber. She was very philosophical in her answers, and I was reminded how she always has been. When I became a fan during childhood, she was one of several actresses I would buy a magazine for if she was on the cover. I found her fascinating then and still do now. One of the very first things I recall her saying when I was about 12 or 13 years old was to do with art theory and the Apollonian and Dionysian dichotomy. Every time I read an interview with her, she had me reaching for the dictionary or encyclopedia, and I always walked away having learnt something new. She had an interesting relationship with 'Marie Claire' that I believe continues to this day.

I'm with the gang on Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane. I remember it being marketed as a horror story, like the Little Girl as a creepy monster. I was the same age as the girl in the film and I thought it would be the greatest to live on your own. My sister and brother were driving me nuts. I thought a nice cup of tea with a little almond flavor would be just the ticket.
Not really

I love Jodie up to and including Silence of the Lambs. Her subsequent career has been spotty - while still some good performances, she phoned it in in Spike Lee’s Inside Man, and her performance in Nell is one of the worst of the 90s, and one of the worst Oscar-nominated performances I have ever seen.
but she is a smart, talented lady and I live in hope of another great role soon.

I didn't pay much attention to her early work until Bugsy Malone where she projected a world-weary cynicism despite being only 12 years old. It was fully realized in The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane and Taxi Driver. Other child actors scored big in hugely dramatic roles (Patty McCormack in The Bad Seed, Patty Duke in The Miracle Worker, Brook Shields in Pretty Baby) but Foster's mature persona gave her characters a deeper, sharper edge unmatched by her contemporaries.
Few of the films she has made in the last couple of decades, with the exception of Silence of the Lambs and The Accused, make full use of her intellect and wide range.

I've never liked her as an actress. The same facial expression in every fucking movie.
