Good. It was a disgrace what they used to do before, which was force players to drink the champagne. At least I assume that that's what they did - otherwise this decision makes no sense. If the Muslim players were not forced to drink champagne against their will, they have no grounds for complaining about other people drinking it around them.

I think the concern was the fact that players spray it all over their teammates willy nilly.

If the FA offered a dinner to the winners in which the only options for drinks were beer or wine and the only dish were pork chops, yes, that would be insensitive and unacceptable. I don't know what the Quran says about being sprayed with alcohol (if it even says anything), but it should not be reason enough to scrap the tradition.

We have a serious problem with Islam in football. The man of the match in the Premier League used to get a bottle of champagne, now they get a shit fluorescent cuboid.

Makes sense I guess what with the EPL not having many English players. In the seventies it was a pint of mild and dripping on toast.
