I wonder how Max Kellerman and Giants Fans (overall) reacted to that.
Of course having said that, Daniel Jones is still Pretty Good. He can Play!

Nobody in New York is happy about this one.
Much happier with the 17th overall choice.

we have numerous New York fans here.
may I ask them what they would have done with their 2 first rounders and early 2nd (think it's in the upper 30s)?
I mean - I guess they groom him behind Eli for the next 2 years?
I thought Eli was shot years ago.
stretch for me to think they could have traded for Rosen? even with that #2?

Gettleman is fucking moron and won't last long with the Giants unfortunately the damage he is doing will stay with the team for a while.

I mean - I guess they groom him behind Eli for the next 2 years? I thought Eli was shot years ago. stretch for me to think they could have traded for Rosen? even with that #2? I just don't see why they used the number 6 on this guy. It's perfectly reasonable for the Giants to not really like Haskins. Evidently some of the other QB needy teams felt the same way. It's also reasonable to like Jones better than Haskins. That's fine, as well. What nobody understands is why they reached for this guy, who should have been a second rounder all the way at the top of the first round. Everybody seems to think he would have been there at least with their 17th pick. I also learn this morning that they traded up to get back into the 1st round to take a corner at 30 overall, which, if they were gonna do that anyway, certainly seems like a spot where this guy Jones would have still been on the board.. or could have been trade bait for a pick if he wasn't. Nothing about this strategy makes any sense whatsoever. The second pick, I like a lot. Taking a gigantic D lineman is filling a need, plus he seemed to be the best player available on the board at that point. Good move there. I know next to nothing about the corner they took at the end of the 1st, but it seems like there were still offensive lineman around, and I have a hard time not going after o lineman considering the last several years the giants have had. I can't agree on the Eli evaluation though. It just has become the cliche that 'he's done' or that 'he's top old' or 'a shell of himself,' and I'm not sure what people are watching. Or maybe even these supposed experts just dont understand? Do people not realize how integral pass protection is? Is this really a secret? Nobody in the league has been asked to deal with the absolute ineptitude at O line that Eli has. It's been harrowing to watch. He's actually, quietly, put up some good numbers recently, but yeah, he hasn't played all that well, and it has gotten in his head. He has gotten a bit skiddish and taken sacks he may not have needed to because he's become so used to it. But I dont see a loss in arm strenght, reaction time, short accuracy, timing on deep balls, roll out/on the run accuracy, etc. The decision making has been suspect, but that's always been true with him, and I think that can be attributed largely too just how completely abysmal the line has been as well. I think anyone who's actually been watching the games should be able to see that he could still play with evem a little bit of competence in front of him. He's obviously gonna be gone in a matter of a couple of seasons at most, anyway, so the question really is about Daniel Jones and whether he was really worth taking now. But even if he was, nobody thinks they went about it the right way.

Gettleman saw 3 series and was in love. Coach at Duke had coached both Mannings. The Giants want the Eli era to go on post Eli.
Gettleman and Dolan, New York's finest.
