McLaren driver Lando Norris has apologised for comments he made after Sunday's Portuguese Grand Prix in which he appeared to play down Lewis Hamilton's recent achievements. Norris, who finished 13th after a collision with Lance Stroll, was asked about the achievement after the race and suggested Hamilton has had it easy because of the dominance of his car.
"I'm just happy for him, nothing more," he said.
"It doesn't mean anything to me, really. He's in a car which should win every race, basically.
"He has to beat one or two other drivers, that's it. Fair play to him, he's still doing the job he has to do."

And so, after 14 years F1 returns to Imola this weekend. Scene of one of the darkest weekends in the sport's history in 94 when both Ratz & Senna were killed. It wasn't all bad, I was reminded today of the famous Alonso/Schumacher race in 2005 >
I have tried several links for the final laps but F1 suits block them, but they all can be watched on You Tube with no problems at all. Just enter fernando alonso vs michael schumacher imola 2005 and you will get a number of options to view the brilliant last laps.
We have a new modified circuit now, so it's a bit of an unknown, we will have to see how practice goes, but we could be in for some surprises as nobody knows what to expect.
Ultimately, as long as everyone comes home safe after the weekend is all that really matters.

Valtteri Bottas beats Lewis Hamilton to Emilia Romagna GP pole - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/54762017Grid 1 to 3 no surprise - but if only we could get Gasly and Russell into better cars. Future may not be so boring after all...

Lewis will most probably beat Bottas even starting from 2.

If you have any preferred subject line then mention so I will change it to that.

What Russell is achieving in that car is quite something - lets get him the car and team to excel.

I actually forgot, that same weekend Rubens Barrichello escaped with his life after a crash and swallowed his tongue.

Verstappen brilliant as he overtakes Hamilton at start, Bottas away and gone, Magnusson spun out first lap. Verstappen hunting Bottas - come on Max!

Leclerc already into pits on lap 14? This is meant to be a one stop track...
Now lots of them going in for tyre changes - some teams have misread the track it seems...

Verstappen pits, Bottas pits - Hamilton leads - when does he pit?

Unsurprisingly the best racing is down in the field, 8,9 and 10 in a right ding dong - gotta hand it to Magnussen, after his 1st lap spin to be where he is is quite some going.
Hamilton to tyre change soon?

Think they will pit Lewis in lap 34 but if he does pit now then he will come ahead of Bottas.

Lol Hamilton gains by virtual safety but he would have come ahead of Bottas anyway.

Think they will put Lewis in lap 34 but if he does pit now then he will come ahead of Bottas. Pits on 31 and still keeps the lead - no luck as far as I'm concerned, superb team tactics me thinks.

Yeah, I certainly believe Lewis would have come ahead of Bottas anyway but I would have liked if they pitted Lewis in lap 35 and put him on soft.
