Well that was a fascinating MotoGP round. So we've had three rounds with 9 podium places available and filled by 9 different riders and all the manufacturers have been up there. I don't think that's happened before.
Fair play to Aleix, he thoroughly deserved that win i reckon. He's stuck by Aprilia for years pleading and encouraging them to keep working and extracting every bit of performance from the bike far outperforming every team mate he's had there and it's all paid off. I'm chuffed for him and it was good to see the rest of the paddock is too. I'm wondering if this could be the start of a challenge for the title.
Yamaha are in trouble and the factory Ducati team might be too which is a big surprise. It will be interesting to see how they fair when they get to Europe.

WorldSBK back with a bang, race one coming down to final corner with Rea holding off Bautista for a thrilling win. Great duel between those two for the entire race with Toprak, on a track he doesn't like, hanging with them early and comfortably finishing 3rd.
Ducati locked out not only the front row, but the top 5 positions in qualifying for the US MotoGP, with Fabio the highest non-Ducati at 6th. Martin got pole from Miller, Pecco, Zarko and Bastianini. Aprilia came back to earth with a thud, Aleix and Mavrick both missing Q2.
Eventful qualifying in the F1. Leclerc sealing pole with his final lap, from Max and Perez.

Honda was so reliable last season, now, yikes. It feels like the 2017/2018 RBR years. Of course, it could be not engine related. Well done Albon.

That was a marathon 12 session. F1 then WSBK then MotoGP then Indy Car. All four were entertaining and worth a watch. I'm too knackered to try and remember what to mention here though ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I think the MotoGP was probably the highlight. Some great midfield racing, Marquez's charge after ballsing up the start, Fabio, Rins and Mir driving the guts out of their outmatched bikes, Factory Ducatis shitting the bed again while an independent rider on a year old bike smoked everybody. It's between that and Race one of the SBK.
F1 was pretty anticlimactic for me. After all the craziness in the Supercars over the weekend at the same venue, divebombing, soft tires exploding, the main race was pretty straightforward apart from Max at the end. And very happy to see Albon get a point. Good on Williams for saying "fuck it" and keeping him out there for 57 laps.

The 1st WSBK race and MotoGP are tied for the best racing of the weekend for me i think. Marquez's fitness stopped him from getting any higher. Without his technical issue at the start or his injury woes over the last few months he would have won it but fair play to Enea, the kid is on form.
WSBK was fascinating. It's looking like an Alvaro / Johnny fight at the moment. Toprak is reportedly reverting back to his 2021 bike to get in the fight too which i hope happens. A three way tussle for the championship will be epic.
F1 unfortunately doesn't look to be much better than last year. It's just a bit different. Albon was the driver of the day.
Indy Car was as entertaining as ever. Herta is putting it in the wall too often to be taken seriously now. I like Joseph so i was pleased he got his first Long Beach win. We support Jack Harvey here but he seems to be really struggling in his new team this year.
Roll on BSB in a few days time

In the motos, it's getting very interesting at the top. Dominant ride from Fabio, but from 2 down was very entertaining. Shame Bastianinu crashed out and then Miller took out himself and Mir while dueling for a podium finish. I thought going in that the eventual champion would be one of the Suzuki riders. They seem the most consistent bikes which Mir and Rins always get the most out of, but then Mir gets a DNF and you end up with a bunched up leader board. Aleix nabbed a podium so he's right in it. Wretched start to the year for Factory Ducati. Intriguing to see how it all shakes out.
In the WorldSBK we had our first big incident of the year, Rea and Raz colliding in a "six of one, half dozen of the other" accident and knocking each other out. Rea had looked pretty ragged for the early part of the race so I wasn't surprised. What was surprising, given how closely he was trailing Rea, was Alvaro avoiding the mess and not getting a DNF himself. He had been pretty ragged himself, but with his main competitors out he cruised to a win and an 18 point lead in the standings. If there's one thing we've learned the last 3 seasons it's that Alvaro has a crash or two in him so it will all shake out in the end. Good to see a Honda on the podium and happy for Locatelli too with a second. Scott ended up 5th on the BMW. He's a good rider that boy.
Pretty dull F1 apart from the first couple of corners. Good to see Norris on the podium.

An okay race.
Red Bull delivered a much needed one-two, that will give them great confidence, and Norris did well to finish third.
Ferrari's weekend was a flop. It's looking like Sainz is feeling the pressure of driving a race winning car. He needs to deliver some consistent finishes, or it's going to be a mental battle.
Humiliation for Hamilton, who's pay is inconsistent with his performance. If there's no vast improvement, he will have to retire, or take a massive paycut. There will come a point where, for a driver who is given a lot of latitiude to pursue extra curricular activities, his mind will start wandering to pastures new.
Good drive from Tsunoda. Looks like the Alpha Tauri/ Alpine battle is going to be as interesting as last year.
Although it's still 'early doors', I'm just not feeling the excitement like previous seasons. Hopefully, that will develop.
Miami next! Something new, and, hopefully, exciting...

WSBK was by far the best of this weeks triple header. The Rea, Bautista, Razgatlioglu battles were again top notch and only blighted by Toprak and Jonathan's clash in the third race. SSP300 and SS were also pretty good too. It's now my joint favourite series this year with Indy Car.
MotoGP was ok but i think it lacks the excitement of the pre-pandemic years and the new commentary team since then is shit in comparison. I was left a bit flat this weekend and it doesn't help that i don't like Fabio.
F1 was dull and the production of the whole show in general appalling. Why they let Paul Di Resta have a microphone is beyond me let alone put him in the commentary box and i have no idea why they've hired Naomi Schiff to be part of the presenting team, she is absolutely useless, i have bad feeling it's just to be diverse and appeal to the woke brigade. I'm not sure i like these new cars either, this porpoising just looks amateurish so now they don't look particularly nice, sound shit and look ridiculous down the straights and still need DRS to overtake each other. I'm also not a fan of the new race directors, they seem to throw a red flag as soon as a marshal farts!
Roll on Indy Car next weekend and hopefully a decent BSB round now that they've got the ridiculous Silverstone National layout out of the way and they are on to a proper track.

Another round down in the motos and another enjoyable race with Pecco holding off Fabio to take the win in Spain. Aleix kept things interesting with a podium finish to stay within 10 points of Quartararo, who's championship lead has snuck up on me. Aleix had to win a 3 way duel with Marquez and Miller, before eventually dropping them and leaving them to fight it out for 4th. Mir was 6th to highlight how costly Miller taking him out in the last race could be to his title hopes.

Tony Brooks: Formula 1 pioneer dies aged 90 Tony Brooks, one of the defining Formula 1 drivers of the 1950s, has died aged 90, his daughter Giulia announced on Tuesday. The Briton won six grands prix and narrowly missed out on the world championship in 1959. After Juan Manuel Fangio, Alberto Ascari and Stirling Moss, Brooks was the most successful driver of his era. Brooks is regarded alongside Moss as the best British driver never to win the F1 title. Moss, who died two years ago, also aged 90, said of his former team-mate and friend: "Brooks was a tremendous driver, the greatest - if he'll forgive me saying this - 'unknown' racing driver there's ever been. He was far better than several people who won the world championship." F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali paid tribute to Brooks in a statement, saying: "I was saddened to hear the news that Tony Brooks has died. "He was part of a special group of drivers who were pioneers and pushed the boundaries at a time of great risk. "He will be missed and our thoughts are with his family at this time." Brooks, who had been the last surviving F1 race winner of the 1950s, left a considerable mark on the sport - between 1956 and 1959, he won 46% of the races he finished, in an era when mechanical reliability was a significant feature in motorsport. Brooks famously won his first ever F1 race, the Syracuse Grand Prix of 1955, in which he competed as a last-minute entry for the Connaught team while studying for his dentistry finals at Manchester University.… www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/61313801

Hi guys, I missed most of the action from all sports in the last month because of excessive work but hope to find time this month for all big events.
Was really happy to see Max win the last race because you want to remain hopefully of a title that gets decided in the last lap of last race of the season. So far it's looking like exactly the season everyone wanted to see with even lower teams looking capable at times. Let's hope we get a surprise in Miami and there is competition for all places. Drivers under pressure are Hamilton, Sainz, Mick and Vettel it seems.

Max wins. Ferrari 2 and 3, Perez 4th. Christian Halliwell looks...pretty subdued actually. Most of the shenanigans came down the field with Mick Schumacher and Seb taking each other out. Russell and Hamilton had an amusing duel late.

This is fun after the race. The interviewer's asking Nascar questions about the Chassis and calling everyone "baby."

Well that was mostly boring with a few minutes of interesting shenanigans followed by a predictable end. I'm astounded the new rules have made F1 worse to watch. Roll on Indy Car next weekend
EDIT: It says something about the state of the sport when Martin Brundles grid walk is one of only a few news items the next morning and was the most entertaining part of the whole weekend.

Well, that was a fun Grand Prix. Similar to US MotoGP, in that Bastianini was able reel in a factory Ducati to win the race. Big difference was the reeled in Ducati, ridden by Pecco, then crashed out of the race, leaving Miller to finish 2nd and Aleix held off Fabio to grab 3rd.
Ride of the day was probably Mavrick, who was stone cold motherless last at the end of the first lap and finished 10th. I say "probably" because they didn't show him at all, as you'd expect for a man nowhere near the front.
Fabio's lead cut to 4 points, Aleix is 2nd and The Beast is a further 4 points back in 3rd. He's the only multiple race winner, and has 3 of those.
