Sorry but I'm one of those black + red fans. My jacket is even black with red stripes. I also like black + yellow, as well as orange + blue. I heard Wes Craven made Freddy's sweater green + red because those colors are the hardest to perceive together. But I myself can't really think of a color combo I dislike. No need to apologize. I know I am in the minority on the red + black deal. But I am steadfast! I think there's some kind of aggression leak going on here with the red and black draw. (Not that I am not in possession of a few aggressive tendencies!) But red + green are the hardest to perceive? Really? Ho Ho Ho! Really? There had to have been some tongue in cheek going on with that comment! Cool that some people like orange and turquoise.

Blue and orange is the worst color combination of all. I like blue and orange together. If you wear blue and orange shorts with blue and orange shoes and a black T-shirt, it is an impressive looking outfit. Blue and orange jorts? Are you a florida gator bro? orange is abysmal for anything but Halloween especially when it's sports related

I love pink and a light green with a little bit of gold. This color combination is exquisite to me. Red and black together are horribly offensive. They are my two least favorite colors and brought together (to quote "just call me Billie!") makes me wanna ralph! Black means death, and red usually symbolizes blood or anger. Just awful. And there is most definitely a psychology to the use of color. I know some people think red + black is stunning, but I just can't agree. I also like turquoise + orange, ala "Howard Johnson's", even if it is a bit gaudy. It's also vivid and playful. Brings back some really nice childhood memories of travelling across the country with my grandparents and we would always stay at Ho Jos. There was something magical to me about the whole concept of the indoor swimming pool. I love black, and I love red but together not so much.

Nice article. But still, red and green are complementary colours and enhance each other. Painters, designers and the marketing people use this all the time(just look at those blue and orange film poster in an other post).

I love black and red. It's quite prominent in Russian Constructivist art of which I'm big fan. They're both bold colors. (I know black is not technically a color though). Turquoise and orange are great as well. The combination is startling and it tends to be rare. Black and pink can be interesting. Black and Pink are perfect compliments for each other. Males can wear pink better than females as well I feel. It can soften the masculinity, whereas with females, it can look a bit too feeble and frivolous.
Feeble and frivolous! I totally agree! Nice one, Toasted Cheese! The first time I remember noticing that guys could look really sexy in pink was on an episode of "Laverne and Shirley" (of all things!) when Carmine came into the room wearing a frilly pink satin nightgown. His nice chest was sticking out and everything. Yowza! And though I can't stand red and black together, I find pink and black appealing. I think red is so strong and it's related to anger and when white comes along and tames the red/anger, you get pink and that's just all around a win win. I think that's why pink is my second favorite color, after green, certain shades of which are utterly tranquil. I love shades of sea foam and chartreuse the most.

I do see red as passion as well, but mixed with just black, it can be too much in your face.
Yeah, I can see red as passion. Anger = violence = blood = internal organs = heart = love = passion. It works out. The Carmen example is as good as any I can think of. Have you ever seen "Cries and Whispers", Toasted Cheese? There is a color scheme in that movie and it is red and black and white, with a definite emphasis on the color red. It is one of the heaviest, most depressing movies ever. But there is also tons of supressed passion in that movie.

Pink with white doesn't do much, too insipid, but when black is mixed in, whoa!
Different strokes, I'm not a fan of earthy colors in general, I'm all about the artifice.
