The two winners of these leagues meet in a home and away match to determine who gets the opportunity to play the bottom team from League 2 (Scottish 4th tier). That winner will be participating in the "big leagues" (SPFL) next season. Bottom club Berwick Rangers await the winner of the match between Cove Rangers (Highland League champions) and East Kilbride (Lowland League champions). The second leg of that match is now being played, in Cove, with the Rangers leading 4-1 on aggregate, at H?T. Berwick are the only English team playing in the SPFL. Founded in 1884, they have never been out of the Scottish Leagues and among their most famous wins was a 1-0 defeat of the Zombies in the Scottish Cup in 1967. If they lose the play-off, it will be interesting to see what they do next. Will they join the Scottish Lowland League or play in an English one? The reason that they play in Scotland is all about distances. Getting to clubs, north of the border is a lot easier than playing some down south. Plymouth Argyle, for instance.
