Your post has reminded me of things I had mostly forgotten, though to be honest I was on her side all the way against the High Sparrow. Most of those who hate her still hated the High Sparrow more. Those who take the time to look at Cersei realise there is very little to hate. I'm beginning to agree with you.

Take your time, it's worth a re-watch. Cersei is a purely reactive, defensive character. She's not likeable and she makes mistakes, but she is mostly restrained in her actions, if not in her vocal outbursts, and constantly the object of adversity.
