After he finds out Jons heritage...
‘Think of the last 20 years...all the war, murder, misery all because Robert loved someone who didn’t love him back.’
Is horribly inaccurate.
Sorry I’m rewatching and this point made me fur my brow. Rhaegar and Lyana are far more to blame for all that death than Robert ever could be.

Rhaegar and Lyana were like romeo and juliet a real love story jon and dany are NOT no matter how hard D&D try to push that scenario i dont know but robert was pretty mad at the targaryens but i wonder if he would hurt jon ? i dont think he would because he was a part of lyanna so maybe ned assumed too much by keeping jon a secret i understand why he did it i want henry cavill to play a young robert baratheon at a prequel or something

Darn right. The canonization of Rhaegar and Lyanna is sickening.
His statement did make me wonder about the future generations. Depending on how many characters survive to have kids, it's gonna be insane in another decade and a half. Jon's kids are guaranteed to be challenged by Gendry's kids, Sansa's kids, maybe Dany's pretender kid. Sam's kids vs Sam's sister's kids. Euron's bastards vs Asha's kids. Bronn's kids will think they're owed half the realm.
I wish GRRM would pen a sequel, but I'll be happy if he includes an epilogue that sums up the future.

Rhaegar already has a wife and kids and Lyana allows her family to believe she was kidnapped when she willingly disappears in the night. They cause that war through their own incompetence. The Mad King made it worse but they got the ball rolling. For them to never speak up at any point...presumably at least 8-9 months of war, right?...for them to never speak up and try to stop the war is on them.

The problem too is that the Mad King likely knew since 3 Kingsguard were there and he knew how to contact Rhaegar to participate in the war plus someone besides a whacky maester must anul the first marriage. I know none of this is going to be considered in the show as they just rammed the notion of Jon;s stronger claim, but the lineage question makes no sense in the show and it still doesn't change the fact that they knew about the war.

Sorry I’m rewatching and this point made me fur my brow. Rhaegar and Lyana are far more to blame for all that death than Robert ever could be. They were fools, all right, but those most to blame are those who consciously take worse decisions. The Mad King burning the Starks was one of those. He betrayed the root and justification of his power by doing so and justified a rebellion. Forward to "present" time and Ned Stark is the man to blame for supporting Tyrion's capture, going upfront against Tywin, accusing Joffrey of illegitimacy and consciously getting the war rolling. Robert can be blamed for trusting Varys, which led to the Targaryen heirs staying alive, but that's a mistake, not an obvious blunder or a clearly wrong decision. The same goes for Cersei's relationship with Jaime. And finally, Daenerys is the one who has it all in Meereen but still decides to take an invasion force to a place she never knew because she considers it hers. She's pretty much the same as the Night King in this regard. Tyrion has always been wrong about who is to blame for things.

God I want a prequel with these characters so much. I want to see the build up to Roberts Rebellion. I want to see the Mad King on my TV. I don't care that we know how it ended, I still want to see it all.
