HBO definitely lightened it up. i went ahead and rewatched it before Saturday and the darkness didn’t change for me but I wasn’t complaining about the darkness anyway. So maybe I had my TV calibrated the way they wanted it already. I also don’t watch at 9 but about an hour later.

HBO definitely lightened it up. i went ahead and rewatched it before Saturday and the darkness didn’t change for me but I wasn’t complaining about the darkness anyway. So maybe I had my TV calibrated the way they wanted it already. I also don’t watch at 9 but about an hour later. I dunno... All I know is I did watch it live... and it was dark as shit.... Wow... That's the first time this expression is actually literal.
I replayed the scene of the Delthraki soldier looking up in terror as he runs into something over and over to see what the hell it was... and finally gave up.. You can now clearly see that it was an undead giant.

I also don’t watch at 9 but about an hour later. i dont want to make this a big deal but for all of you who think some of us are complaining to much i read HBO confirmed the episode was bit darker so it can match the directors vision , i dont know what kind TV the director has but it would have been nice for HBO to have a disclaimer before episode start playing so we can adjust our tv to the "directors vision"

I went ahead and tried to lighten the show further on secon watch and it was just too blotchy to enjoy.

My thing was I always assumed it was supposed to be dark as I never had an issue with seeing who the main characters were. I think the darkness was supposed to mimic what they saw plus it masked the limited CGI on the zombies who were clearly mostly human performers unlike in the past so they could increase the budget for the episode overall and the dragons.
