Anyone watch this show.
If you don't know it, it's a continuation of the original Karate Kid. It's on season 2.
There are a few things I hate but overall it's done really well and Johnny's transformation is done well. I'm halfway through season 2.

I really loved Season 1. It walked this very fine line of being fun without being silly, serious without being overbearing, offering fan service without it taking over the show, and it was also a compelling story unto itself. The transposition of Cobra Kai Miguel as the good guy (at least for most of the season), Johnny as the misunderstood "villain," it really worked well. Johnny's depiction of how things went down in 1984 (which is in part fan service to that great youtube video) was marvelous. They managed to capture something (I hesitate to use the word) magical and I loved it.
I liked the second season but it's nowhere near as compelling. It's still fun but it doesn't walk that line nearly as well, definitely venturing into silliness and over-seriousness. As the season wore on, I grew to hate the Robby Keane character, and the actor playing him. He has two modes - confused angry, and smirking pretty boy, with nothing in between. Johnny and Miguel are still the highlights of the show.

I really like this show. The way they fleshed out the Johnny character is great. I grew to hate the Robby Keane character, and the actor playing him. He has two modes - confused angry, and smirking pretty boy, with nothing in between. Johnny and Miguel are still the highlights of the show. I agree with this.

I absolutely love this show. I thought season two was at least equally good. I am Team Johnny all the way.

I do not find him likeable in any sense. I also hate the actor who plays Robbie, he's awful. He makes these terrible facial expressions and some of his scenes where he's attempting to act I literally cringe. He's so miscast and an awful actor. I think they did a tremendous job with Johnny though.

Can we watch for free on Youtube or do I have to subscribe to their streaming service?
I thought I’d read somewhere that Youtube was canceling its original programming and getting out of scripted content creation.

Not in my case, only the first episode was free.

The last episode was awful, the big brawl in the school where a bunch of kids are free to fight to the death for 15 minutes with nary a teacher in sight was ridiculous. The fight scenes, espeically when they're long like that don't look good, their lack of skills and clear cut set up fights aren't done well. Shorter quick fights fit this show better, that thing last night was just awful, knocked down my opinion of the show a lot. And the fact that Kreese just "takes over" the dojo, and Johnny, who has been paying the bills and has his name on all the paperwork could simply call the cops, just lets him have it, was ridiculous. I get it's moving toward Daniel and Johnny being friends but that last episode was dreadful. Also the rumor is Elizabeth Shue will be in season 3.

I feel the fight scenes have always been ridiculous, but that is part of the charm. The entire show is a cheese fest, honestly, but I still love it.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at when I said the second season didn't work as well for me. The whole Kreese thing just kinda fell flat for the entire season. The show is already silly enough (in a good way), but they brought him back and made him a cartoon villain because they didn't know what else to do with him.

There is no way anyone can root for this kid. Me too, I like Miguel. He is a dynamic character and I felt he was redeemed this season from his turn towards darker paths. His character is at least somewhat believable (at least within the context of the show). I like Hawk but he's a cartoon bad guy, same with Tori. With you on Robby. I fucking hate that kid. At the end of the penultimate episode, when he and Sam arrive at Johnny's house, he's just standing there with this stupid shit-eating grin on his face. You've been an asshole to your dad for two seasons now and you just show up at this door.....and you're smirking? Why are you smirking?? Pussy ass douche.
