Unlike the NRL Footy Show, the AFL versuon was about two compelling hosts: Sam Newman and Eddie McGuire. Since those two left they've tried James Brayshaw (FFS), serious journalists, and comedians, but no dice.
What really killed the Footy Show for good was Thursday Front Bar on Channel 7. 2 comedians (one of whom was a former reserves footballer) a journalist sitting at a bar enjoying a drink and talking about footy, usually with a past player coming in for a sit down. Last week's ratings were telling. Almost all of the footy show's former audience now watches Front Bar, with fewer than 100,000 still watching the Footy Show.
No wonder 9 pulled the plug.
