...still do not have a no-hitter in the history of their franchise. What kind of randomness is that? That scrub the other day got his second and the Padres collectively have none. You’d think they’d have accidentally gotten one by now.

To be fair, the Mets' lone no-hitter, tossed by Johan Santana in 2012, featured an egregiously blown call where Carlos Beltran hit a double over the third-base bag that the umpire inexplicably ruled foul. This is a franchise that has had some pretty terrific pitchers over the years too, and Santana was the only one.
Here is the video. Oddly enough, the Cardinals broadcasters were pretty diplomatic about it, but the ball clearly goes over the bag in fair territory before hitting the line (which would still be fair). The umpire is standing right there and still botches the call. Incompetent umpires are the worst.
