Then who's the hero and the villain in Godzilla vs. Kong?
I won't like it if they change direction and make Godzilla an antagonistic threat to human civilization.
Especially when he's not intentionally or specifically targeting humans in the first one and is clearly working with humans in the second one.
The only way it would work for me is, if they don't want to make Kong an all-out villain, somehow some bad actors get control of Kong and have him do their bidding, and Godzilla has to go claw-to-paw with Kong until Kong comes back to his senses.

Maybe something happens in KotM that makes Godzilla angry with humankind.

They'll probably just be two creatures fighting until they have to team up against a bigger threat.
Kong being under the control of "sone bad actors" is also plausible, as KOTM introduces a band of eco-terrorists lead by Charles Dance who are trying to do basically that.
But the way the two Godzillas and Skull Island play out, neither will be an outright villain.

Okay, I see, kind of like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Tedious but plausible and feasible.
Well, tedious in the case of BvS; hopefully GvK/KvG will play that out much better and without cringe-worthiness.

Okay, so having seen the film, I can understand why Godzilla would be ambivalent about humankind. It's pretty much because of one scene that pays homage to the original film: the military tries killing him and Ghidorah both with an Oxygen Destroyer weapon. It doesn't affect the latter but weakens Godzilla badly. Perhaps he felt betrayed in that instance?

Although, right after that, Godzilla saw Dr. Serizawa reach out to and touch him just before he sacrificed himself to juice Godzilla up with super nuclear radioactive power and turn him into Shin Godzilla.

You mean Nuclear Godzilla from Godzilla vs Destroyah right' that's where that reference comes from when he's all red hot, not Shin Godzilla.

Okay, right, but didn't that also happen in Shin Godzilla?
