This movie opened with a salty combination of recluse, romance, and ruff housing. Then it moved on to bits of Aquamans youth. It did an Admiral job (pun intended) of world building throughout. I enjoyed the angst portrayed of Arthur Aquaman being torn between two worlds of sea superiority and landlubbers. Plenty of thrilling action between his arch nemesises. And an epic battle scene that would have done the Mon Calamari navy proud.
But now for where this movie was just blowing bubbles. Where were the seafood platters?!? Aquaman ultimately commands the marine life, but he brought his telepathic admiraling in far too late in the story. And then right in the middle of the movie Aquaman's brother killed a fish man king like he was a hapless pansy! And his daughter cowered to "Oceanmaster" like a spineless sycophant! A shameful portrayal of the more aquatic sentient races. And for such technologically advanced races, there was constant barbarism on the part of the Atlantians. In the end it was a mixed seafood platter.

Do you think the Mon Calamari could’ve defeated Ocean Master on their own?
