It fucking rocked. So unbelievably corny and bloated and over-the-top, but in the best possible way.
The way James Wan does the action is incredible. The hand-to-hand combat scenes obviously mix real choreography with CGI connectors to make fluid, amazing looking action. It has a rich, smooth feel to it while also retaining a feeling of power and impact with every swing. Very Snyder-esque, which makes sense.
I think the CGI is overused, but it usually looks pretty great. I don’t know why, but I accepted the green screen overload here. It must have something to do with the color grading or the framing of the shots themselves, because it looks so much better than most superhero CGI.
It’s not perfect, but I’m surprised how good it was. 8/10 for me. Any word on when he’ll show up again? I haven’t heard much on the DC slate.
