In this Swiss science fiction/horror film, the entire human race is forced to live aboard massive and crowded orbital stations because an ecological collapse has rendered the Earth inhospitable to human life.
Many people hope to improve their lives by securing spots on corporate colony vessels which carry thousands of people to beautiful, uninhabited worlds for settlement.
Life on a pristine new world vs life on a claustrophobic, overpopulated orbital is a no-brainer, but getting a berth on a colony starliner is expensive.
The film’s protagonist, Laura, is a doctor who wants to join her sister and niece on the idyllic colony world Rhea, so she signs an 8-year contract to serve as the medical officer aboard a vast cargo vessel ferrying supplies to colonies. The contract will pay her enough to buy a ticket to Rhea.
The journey is supposed to be uneventful, if lonely: One member of the crew takes the watch for 8 months while the others sleep, then is relieved by a second crew member, and on and on...
When Laura is awoken for her 8-month solo watch on the ship, everything is going as planned — until she starts to see signs and hear noises that suggest she’s not the only person awake aboard the ship...

Cargo (2009) Not bad at all. Watched it a few times. (must be viewed with subtitles as the dub misses some important story points)
Begins impressively looking like blade runner in space and if the film doesn't have a Ridley Scott budget or memorable characters, it has atmosphere and a good storyline. More a futuristic mystery thriller on a spaceship, than a horror movie. 5/10
'Though why would you build an artificial environment in space to house the world's population, when it would be easier and cheaper to build it on Earth? If the Earth is inhabitable, space is even more so.
