Pre-Islamic thoughts and traditions of Al-Jahiliyah period were turned upside down by Islam.
The war of corruption, slaying and robbing that used to prevail has now turned into a sacred war. One of the greatest aims of Islamic just war is to free man from the aggression, the oppression and the tyranny of men of power. A man of power, in Islam, is a weakling till after the right of the poor is taken from him.
War, in Islam, is a Jihad for the purification of the land of Allâh from perfidy, treachery, sinful deeds and aggression. It is a sacred war that aims at spreading security, safety, mercy and compassion as well as observing the rights and magnanimity. The Messenger of Allâh (Peace be upon him) had issued honourable strict rules about war and bade his soldiers and leaders to comply with them. They were forbidden to break those rules under any circumstances.
“Do not kill a wounded person nor run after a fleeing one or kill a captive.”
He decreed that envoys cannot be killed. He also stressed on not killing those who made covenants. He even said:
“He whoever kills one who is under pledge to a covenant shall not smell Paradise, though its smell could be experienced at a forty-year distance from it.”
So, texts like "Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks." cannot be found anywhere in Islamic traditions.

Just war? Are you friggin kidding me?! Just war and Islam do not belong in the same sentence you deceptive piece of shit. Islam was largely spread through aggressive warfare and hostility via rape, conquest and pillaging. Do you know that Muhammad broke all his own rules regarding war at one time or another?

Islam was largely spread through aggressive warfare Islam is the only religion on earth that has clear position against forced conversions. One of the fundamental truths established by the sacred texts is that no one can be compelled to accept Islam. Unlike the forced conversions witnessed by Romans wherever they marched, " There is no coercion in religion." is an established concept in islamic traditions. Verily, Islam aims is to free man from the aggression, the oppression and the tyranny of men of power.

Fight the polytheists until “all religion is for Allah alone” & submitted to Allah willingly or by “compulsion” isn’t talking about forced conversions? We haven’t even gotten into jizyah yet.

Just how "rare" was forced conversion in Islam is a matter of honest disagreement among historians. But bringing up jizyah will undercut your position. If anything, jizyah created for Muslim rulers a financial incentive against forced conversion by expanding their treasuries.

The basic principle characterizing the universe, in other words the religion of the universe and of every part of it, is Islam; insofar as the universe is in a state of total obedience and service to the Will of God. Here people are asked if they would follow a way of life different from Islam though they are part of the universe which is characterized by submission to God (islam). Cody, I can't recall any Muslim who claimed it's ok to force others to embrace Islam. Again Islam is clear on this position “So warn them: your only task is to warn, you’re not supposed to force them.”

The ancient world was certainly brutal at times, with military excesses sometimes involving deliberate widespread violence against whole civilian communities. Then Islam came 1400 years ago with its own framework. It demands of warriors that they uphold the concepts of proportionality (doing no more harm than is necessary) and discrimination (directing violence only at combatants whilst minimising harm to civilians and their possessions and infrastructure).

No compulsion in religion... ....”When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. Then invite them to migrate from their lands to the land of Muhairs and inform them that, if they do so, they shall have all the privileges and obligations of the Muhajirs. If they refuse to migrate, tell them that they will have the status of Bedouin Muilims and will be subjected to the Commands of Allah like other Muslims, but they will not get any share from the spoils of war or Fai' except when they actually fight with the Muslims (against the disbelievers). If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them....Sahih Muslim 19:4294muflihun.com/muslim/19/4294There are only three choices when one is invited to Islam. Either A. Submit B. Pay the jizyah tax and live under Islamic rule as a second class citizen(dhimmi) or C. Die.
