So I was talking to a friend of mine who has always been a huge Superman fan, ever since she was a little girl. She has gone to see every Superman movie to go to theatres in her lifetime and watched every show of Superman (even watches Supergirl now), cause she loves the character. I, on the other hand, never cared for Superman when I was growing up and it wasn't until MAN OF STEEL came out and said best friend dragged me, that I finally *got* it about why people loved him so much (No offense at all meant to Christopher Reeves, because he was awesome. R.I.P.), the guy who doesn't react when a beer is poured over him and who actually sags in relief when he realizes his all too fragile human mother survived an alien attack. I got all the Hope and such that my friend talked about all the time. Granted, I still love Batman and he's still basically one of my top 5 favorite comic book heroes of all time (DC, Marvel, etc. all combined), and I've always loved Wonder Woman since I was little - there are actually photos of me when I wasn't even old enough to read yet, flipping through my brothers' WONDER WOMAN comic books and getting my brothers to read them to me.
But, this conversation got me to wondering - are most Superman fans lifelong? Did most of them encounter the character as a kid/teen and that was it, this is your favorite, no more applications please? Or are more of them like me, and had to wait until they were old enough for the weariness of the evening news and newspaper headlines to actually have made a dent, to have been to a couple funerals, helped a couple friends recover from a divorce, and acquire some scars before we could truly appreciate Superman? Or, are there more people who loved the nice, farm-boy superhero as a kid but they grew up and became Batman fans?

I’ve always preferred Batman, but Superman is a close number two.

I preferred Batman as a kid. I actually did think Superman was kind of boring when I was a kid, but over time, I came to appreciate and respect the character.

I grew a better appreciation for Supes as I got older, but I’ve always preferred (and still prefer) Bats.

I loved both heroes after watching their respective films from Richard Donner and Tim Burton.

Loved them both as a kid and still do. I'm just hoping they give it some time and a lot of thought before they bring either back to the big screen.

What about "I loved Superman, Batman and Wonder woman as a kid and still do" as an option?

What about "I loved Superman, Batman and Wonder woman as a kid and still do" as an option? That's what I thought as well. The poll was kind of dumb and limited.

Technically, anything that does not speak is dumb. As for the narrow scope of the poll, I was asking a very specific question. I was not asking something broader such as, "Who is your favorite superhero of all time?", but rather about the Superman/Batman fans specifically. If you are looking for something that is not so specific and covers a vast number of characters, I think you ought to find another poll. @lenlenlen Nice meme.

I've always been a Superman gal--grew up with the so-called Silver Age Supes (which made me highly unusual in my day for being a gurrrl and reading superhero comics)--and I also was (and am) a fan of Superboy. To be honest, I haven't seen most of the Batman movies for one simple reason: no Superman!

Loved both as a kid.
And while I still like both, I found I liked Superman more as I got older and Batman less.

Batman & Ironman never appealed to me.
I read them. I love Burton's Batman. But actually collecting the comics?
I think the only Batman comics I bought were for who else was in it like Spectre or Creeper
