Today would have been Vincent Price's 108th birthday, a cherished actor in all genres, but continues to be most remembered for the horror roles he had. With his smooth, silky, sinister voice and good looks, he charmed and terrified millions of fans.

My goodness. Has it really been nearly 26 years since the passing of Price?
Rather than reinvent the wheel in praise of Price, I'll plagiarize from myself in my review of House Of Wax, written exactly fourteen years and one day ago, on May 26, 2005 (I had no idea at the time it was the day before his birthday):

I believe that was central to his appeal: no matter what he was communicating onscreen, or what emotions he was generating in audiences, there was a joy of performing at the heart of all his work.

Not only was he a fine actor, but I always felt that no one loved acting and had more fun with it than he did.

My mom has said of Theater Of Blood that the only thing wrong with it was that it wasn't a documentary.

House of Wax is probably my favorite of his. Here's a trailer for one of his more vile roles as Matthew Hopkins in Witchfinder General.

Smooth, sinister voice with a sense of humor-an irresistible combination.

Vincent's movie debut, the comedy Service de Luxe 1938. Another comedy, with musical numbers, Up in Central Park 1948 Champagne for Caesar 1950, Caesar is the parrot. Jules Verne's Master of the World 1961 Egghead on Batman 1966-1967 The Abominable Dr Phibes 1971 Edward Scissorhands 1990. Just to mention a few of the maybe not so usual supects.
