If it were up to me...
One more movie in which we show Thor rebuild Asgard and becomes its new Odin, while female Thor becomes Earths new defender, with his blessing.
Had they handled the characters of either Sif or Jane properly, a proper arc for Thor would have been him achieving the peak of his powers in IW and eventually sacrificing himself to try and stop Thanos. Then in Endgame, either Sif or Jane could have taken up the mantle of Thor. That would have allowed Thor to go out at his brightest point while at the same time allowing a woman a chance to take the his spot. . I like it! There's only one problem with that... that would have been one too many deaths in Endgame. Kill Tony and Thor?! No! That's sad ending overload!
The way I see it, perhaps Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) can become the female Thor, or have a totally new character. I don't think it will work right trying to force Sif or Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) into the role even though that's what happened in the comics.
See, in the comics whenever Jane Foster turned into Thor she had a whole new body! Kinda like when SHAZAM! turns into another guy. I don't know if they can get Natalie Portman to play only half a role, and the boring half at that, while some other cool looking woman (like the one above [Brooke Ence]) gets all the juicy scenes.

No no, he doesn't die in Endgame but in Infinity War. He'll be the major death in IW whereas Stark will be the one in Endgame. Well as I mentioned, "If they had handled Sif or Jane right"... And part of "handling then right" would mean they'd have cast someone other than Portman for Jane.

As for the casting of Jane with Portman, I wont blame Portman. She's a fine actress who has done great work on other more dramatic projects. She was never given great material to work with in the Thor movies.
