This episode was amazing. I loved hearing Chris and Kurt talk about old stories about guys like Eddie. They mentioned Benoit and to this day I can't hear his name without thinking about what he did. However I felt their pain in regards to it because it indeed does suck that we can't enjoy what he did in the ring. I know I personally can't but I understand the frustration.
My favorite part of the podcast was this
C: It's Wrestle Mania time, what's the favorite Wrestle Mania match that you had?
K: Ya know, I always wanted to wrestle him after I saw the match you and Shawn Michaels had at Wrestle Mania. Like I was pissed off, like I didn't watch your match against Shawn at 19 but man me and Brock stole the show and then the next day I'm watching like son of a bitch those guys had a better match than us.
C: I don't mind saying it, the one time we did.
K: It was Jericho and Shawn. I already wrestled Jericho so I got to wrestle Shawn which I did at WM 21. I can't lie...did you wrestle Shawn before that?
C: That was the first match I ever had with him.
K: Me too! It's like how does that happen? Usually you wrestle a guy a couple times to get the chemistry. The thing is Shawn didn't want to do anything that week. He just wanted to sit down and get to know me. We went over one spot where I had to lift him over my head when he had an arm bar into a sunset flip. We didn't do anything, does he really think he's that good?
C: You didn't talk about anything or practice anything?
K: We talked about the comeback and finish which we always do. The thing is other than that I never locked up with him to get a feel for him ya know? He didn't want to do anything. I got to know his family really well and he got to know mine. Pat was there and we came up with some false finishes like everybody does. I just didn't think I'd have that type of chemistry with a guy that quickly and I know that you did and it's like is Shawn really that good and he is! I'll tell you a quick story. I didn't know Shawn. He struggled for a while when he came back.
(Story of Elimination Chamber where Shawn defeats HHH for the WHC)
K: I was like this guy is pretty good. I didn't know who he was because I didn't watch before I started. So he comes backstage and I go "hey man, you're pretty good" and he got a little offended like "you don't know who I am?" and I'm like "no I don't know you and I don't care, you're pretty good man."
K: After that he kind of teased me every time saying "hey Angle you're pretty good." But after that you want to talk top three...
C: He's #1 for me
K: Yeah me too
C: I know what the rules are for guys like Flair and these guys but working with him and watching, it's Shawn Michaels.
K: Well I'm not gonna lie to you that I wish I wrestled Ric Flair in his prime or Bret Hart in his prime and I didn't so I have to say Shawn Michaels yes.
C: And the thing is it was his second prime. His firth prime was in the 90's and then he comes back in the 2000's and he's the best worker again.
K: I just saw him at the gym today and he looks the same as he did before. He's gonna make his third run.
C: Maybe Angle vs Michaels the third run?
K: Oh god old men in the ring super kicking each other.
I loved this interview. Stuff like this however furthers my belief that Shawn Michaels is the best of all time.
