Yes, I've been watching DVD releases of
The Curse Of Oak Island...
The "Mystery" of "The Money Pit" is real and has been the subject of documentaries for decades. The 1970s TV Show "
In Search Of..." did an episode on the Mystery... and the show "
Ancient Aliens" discussed it as well...
There are numerous "oddities", for a lack of a better term, that does suggest there was more going on there, than just a couple random groups of pirates burying a few treasure chests.
Evidence does exist that the Knights Templar were exploring North America in the 1300s, and had may have been looking for a safe and secure place to bury their great holy treasures... (If the Ark Of The Covenant is a dangerous as history claims it is, no one would want it placed where just anyone would find it, and easily retrieve it.)
It was also very possible that a group like the Knight Templar could build the "Fort Knox" like environment underground in the 1300s as well. (Mining had been going on for centuries, and the Eqyptians built the pyramids with computer like precision).
The island itself was remote enough centuries ago, that most of the "oddities" could not be hoaxes or "jokes" since no one was likely to ever encounter them.
Which leads to the events that happened since
1795, when the "Money Pit" was discovered, and the "Mystery" began.
A small group of teenage boys, claim they saw strange lights moving about the island one night, and went to the island the next day to investigate, and found the "Money Pit" next to a tree... They started digging. Who knows if these "lights" actually happened or what they were.
The rest of what they found, and how they found it can be easily researched... But... Some skeptics claim that the descriptions are somewhat contradictory, and there is no "evidence" remaining to back up what was seen and discovered. Many even suggest that some of those claims were made up to keep the dig going... Some people even think the Money Pit is nothing more that just a Sinkhole...
Well, perhaps the "Money Pit" itself is nothing more than just some misguided effort by treasure seekers to find something which isn't there... But that still doesn't explain hard evidence found all around the island like Nolan's Cross...
I do believe that there was some intent to bury something more significant than treasure chests on the island.
For now, there doesn't seem to be any evidence to suggest that after the island's "Fort Knox" was built, that anything was actually buried there. It may even be possible, that it was dug up years later.
The only real way to know, is to continue investigating the island and it's mysteries.
As for the show, "
The Curse Of Oak Island"... That seems to be a joke in itself.
The team never fully investigates the leads they have, giving up after one failed attempt, and they jump from one theory to another each episode. At that rate, they will never be able to fully explore each theory, and check them off the list when they don't Pan Out (Pun Intended). They could just keep at it for decades...if not forever.
The only genuine treasure they have found, are ancient coins, randomly found on the surface of the island...with a hand held metal detector, and that was by just dumb luck of some random guy, scanning where he was walking, while trying to get to some place else.
It's time to get some real treasure hunters in there who know what they are doing...
But in all fairness to the TV Show, keep in find, people have trying to solve the mystery for over
200 Years, if anyone really expects the team to solve the mystery and dig up the great treasure in just a few years, they are going to be disappointed... And that is assuming, there IS treasure there to be found.
I think making an episodic TV Show at this time, is probably a waste of time... and as we have seen by many of the episodes, there is only about five minutes worth of new information each episode. A once a year special would be better.
Still, it is interesting to learn about history of the island, the history involved concerning the different theories, and the methods and techniques that are being used to investigate the island. But for most fans, that is not what they are really interested in.
Then there are some that just watch the show for other reasons.
