When I become middle aged maybe. Old people are smelly and creepy and I don't know if I wanna become one.

Thought about It. Comes along with having chronic depression.

I've thought about only in so much like thinking about what it would be like to punch a shark in the face. It's a normal hypothetical for most humans I'm sure. So is what it'd be like to cut your foot off if it were frostbitten.

I think every adult has considered it.
I have. But never seriously. I was raised to believe life is a test. You are not always going to be happy. The only losers are quitters. Suicide is giving up. I would rather go down fighting than giving up.
Besides, being happy is a state of mind. I have been depressed when everything was going well. And happy when everything sucked.
"Be happy and keep on truckin'. Nothing last forever. Even unhappiness. Hang in there. Things will change. I guarantee. Even if you don't want them to."
"That's life. Life is change."

"That's life. Life is change."suicide is not giving up my friend see what depression does is it convinces you that the world would be better off without you so your mind makes you think you're doing a favor for everyone else.

Seriously enough to warrant a 24-hour hold, but I think that period of confinement scared me straight.

I have thought about it, but nothing very serious.

I've heard stories of suicide survivors who have said that, for example, as soon as they took the big jump, they have the thought of "I've made a mistake." or "Why am I doing this?" as they're falling.
I've also heard of people not having enough courage to pull the trigger when it comes to the big moment as they're holding up the gun to themselves.

There have been times in the past when I thought that I wouldn't mind getting a cancer, but I have never considered suicide - it would be absolutely devastating to people I love, and I could never do it to them.
*** EDIT ***
Having said that, I am totally killing myself if I am ever diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

That's a major criticism of suicide --- its selfish. Maybe the pain is over for you. But what about everybody else? Some people think nobody cares about them. Others want to hurt those around them. But some are just cowardly and selfish.

I've had some rough spells where I contemplated it and the repercussions, but I would never go through with it.
An acquaintance of my wife said her husband committed suicide (pistol to the head in the living room) after his wife and kids went to work and school. The oldest kid came home from school later that day (think he was in junior high) and was the first to find the body of his Dad. I feel real sorry for that kid. His mind will forever be etched with that scene.
