I like toaster ovens, too. They're handy for everything from toast, to small roasts or other entrees, without heating up the big oven.

I've never really cooked in a microwave. It's great for defrosting, re-heating leftovers, heating up a cup of coffee. I use it to slightly warm breads and pastries straight from the fridge. The one thing I can't live without is a toaster oven.

Mine is used often, like defrost DH's breakfast ham, then often to heat soup for lunch, then to heat canned or frozen veggies for dinner.

I posted this thread on June 16, and I confess that I haven't gotten rid of it yet. Also, I must admit that I have used it for heating 5-6 times.
I still think that it's too big, and used too infrequently to warrant work space in the kitchen.
It's been interesting reading responses.

Most definitely and have been using one ever since the 1980's    .
Of course I still use my oven and toaster oven often too
( I say every heating appliance in the household is definitely most needed ! )  .

I actually keep my large microwave oven on a separate table in my eat-in part of the kitchen
along with my toaster oven - it's definitely a space saver for my small kitchen counter too .

I totally 110% agree with you on all points here Jay and I would be so lost without my handy microwave as well   IMPO - one of the best kitchen appliance inventions of all  .
