When I lived in Albuquerque there was Nick's Crossroad Café which was at the intersection of Central and 4th Street which is also the intersection of both of the Route 66's (the route was changed in the late 30's I think), we also went to the Red Ball Café, home of the Wimpy burger) which was on 4th ST. I don't know if these places are still there. The Route 66 Diner on Central was also popular but that dated only from the mid 80's. The El Camino Motel motor court was still in business when we lived in Albq., we lived in NM from 2001 - 2010. At the time there were a lot of murals on buildings celebrating Route 66.
