I prefer to get my bad news mid day.
If I get it first thing in the morning (like an email that came while I slept or a call at 9am) its quite hard for me to get my energy up that I need for the day and may influance my decision making.
If I get it at the end of the day then it may fuck up my ability to go to sleep.
But at the end of the day would be my second choice. Morning bad news affect me the most it seems.
What about you?

I used to think I prefered that also but then I noticed how much it affects my mood before going to sleep and sleep is super important to me. But at least one has no more task/chores to do so doesnt have to fight to find energy for those so i do see benefit in it from that perspective yeah.

I voted for at the beginning of the day.
True, it does mess you up from the start, but it gives me more time to process it and address it thereby leaving a chance that the whole day is not a wash

definitely the start of the day because then you can do something about it you don't feel as helpless getting bad news at night leaves you with a helpless feeling that's why a lot of times if I get some mail I won't open it before I go to bed I'll wait for it tomorrow just cuz I know I won't be able to make calls to places and things.

Doesn't matter but preferably as soon as possible so I can rearrange my schedule or plans easily.

I see any news, whatever it be, will arrive when it arrives. You receive it when you are meant too. I try not to go around looking at information in terms of bad or good. Out of bad can come good and out of good can come bad. It is what it is. well what if u r the ome givimg rhe bad news to someone (like firing them or breaking up with them etc) wouldnt u consider a good timing?

Beginning of the day, when I take my morning coffee.

If it messes with my sleep, that makes it particularly bad. Without a good night's sleep, I am a mess the next day. So, mid day for me, too, when I have enough time to think rationally about what, if anything, to do.

Well, as a sickly child (a la Martin Scorsese so I hate this time of sunny year) and adult heavy drinker (writer's block), I've been preparing for a terminal diagnosis all my life, so if I get it, I feel I need ample time in which to prepare for my upcoming demise.
