Always found David Gilmour to be a gent and he recently gave away his guitar collection to charity and it raised $21M. Any other nice guys out there?

On a personal meet-on-the-street level, Tom Robinson was gazing at the ad postcards (it was a good few years ago) in a newsagent's window when I spotted him before a benefit gig in Islington. He shook my hand and we had a brief chat, very pleasant man. Nick Cave was quite the gent at the back of the old Brixton Academy after coming out of a soundcheck for that night's gig, signing stuff for us while his beat-up old minicab waited for him. Jean-Michel Jarre was very friendly doing a photo-shoot by that parade of four red phone boxes outside Hyde Park in Marble Arch. His assistant initially even thanked me for asking who he was. Kate Bush was very agreeable signing an autograph for me. Mark Shaw of Then Jericho (yeah I know he can be temperamental and troublesome in the business but these are personal examples) is always polite if I see him.
On the other hand, Malcolm McLaren totally blanked my approach outside the old Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street. And my mate went to have a word with Brian Harvey of East 17 at Gatwick Airport and was told by him to "F*** off, mate, not now." He was causing a scene about something, proper tantrum-like.
These days, though, I wouldn't hardly approach anyone famous.

I’ve heard Dave Grohl’s pretty cool. Unless he catches you picking a fight at one of his shows.
