this is such a great album. it takes some listening to get used to KING DIAMOND's vocals that are like a child mimicking ROBERT PLANT.
any other fans?
METALLICA's covers of some MERCYFUL FATE songs are awesome.

Huge fan of King Diamond here. I actually love his vocals. Mercyful Fate is great and Melissa is a great album but I prefer his solo stuff. You should listen to Abigail if you haven’t.

A good acquaintance of mine is a BIG Mercyful Fate/King Diamond fan.
In fact, he persuaded me to get an album of theirs. I ended up getting "In The Shadows". LOVE the song "The Bell Witch". When I got onto iTunes, I bought that song since I had the album on cassette.

I own several of his albums on vinyl, but the only one I rebought on CD was "Abigail". From what I've heard of his discography, "Abigail" is his crowning achievement IMO.

Haven't listened to that album in a while, but I remember it being pretty good. Like others here, I also had a heavy preference for his solo work. Obviously everyone likes Abigail, but I also want to mention The Puppet Master, probably the best of his later albums.

Great album.
