I would absolutely say that it's a classic too. Karloff's voice is hilarious in it, with that lovely touch of silliness that Karloff also brought to his introductions for Thriller.
It's probably the best Doctor Seuss adaptation of them all--but, then, its competitors are terrible, cynical movies with Mike Myers and Jim Carrey!

Watch it every year on a dvd copy so it's not interrupted by commercials.
A perfect 10+++.
Karloff IS the perfect choice and Ravenscroft (Tony the Tiger's voice) is perfection for the songs.
From the Grinch and Max down to Cindy Lou Who (who was only two) amazing little treat !
Sometimes watch watch it again, "out of season".
The live action Seuss films and adaptations are worthless, imo. All of them !

10/10 - a Christmas classic, by far the best Dr Seuss adaptation, just a perfect X-Mas gift.
