If you had asked me a few years ago, I would have said the Gloved One, but at this point I would say "17 Days" alone destroys MJ's entire discography. Purple Rain vs Thriller? "Little Red Corvette" alone demolishes it.

"Raspberry Beret" was my favorite.

I liked most of Michael Jackson's music. I loved Prince's.

Prince has always been the better artist.

Prince may have been the better instrumentalist, but I like Michael Jackson's music better.

Was never a huge fan of either. I’d say Prince was a more talented instrumentalist, songwriter and the more versatile singer of the two. Jackson though has the more catchier songs for the most part imo.
Prefer tracks like “Beat it”, “Billie Jean”, “Human Nature”, “P.Y.T”, “Don’t stop till you get enough”, “She’s out of my life”, “Liberian girl” and “Who is it” to anything Prince has ever produced.

I think Prince has some great songs in the 80s but pretty much everything he did in the 90s bored the life out of me. MJ all the way.

Prince may have been the better instrumentalist, but I like Michael Jackson's music better. I think Quincy Jones is the man behind the man and once his 3 albums were done, Remember the Time is the only one I would consider a classic.

MJ was a genius entertainer and performer, but Prince was a genius musician and songwriter. Very few actually appreciate both the depth and breadth of Prince's work because he has so much great stuff beyond the hit singles everyone knows. I'd put Purple Rain (the album), Sign O' the Times and Parade over anything Jackson ever did.
