If you play your cards right, you might be able to wrangle some travel vouchers out of this mess.

the flight back is no better. delayed 3 hours in Orlando and didnt make it to JFK but landed in Baltimore instead
Connection to Europe missed, now stuck in Baltimore.
i get it, its bad weather. but i wish Delta communicated better. when i tried to call them they offered a callback in 3.5 hours.
no agents available in baltimore to tell confused passangers to whats next for them.
the delta app didnt even tell me the flight was being rerouted, nothing.

I think airlines in general get away with treating their customers with utter contempt.

I think airlines in general get away with treating their customers with utter contempt. the problem is the leverage they have over us. we already paid and we need them. thet dont need us and thet already have our money and good lick getting it back. its just such unballanced type of relationship. and getting stuck in a foreign place after god knows how many hours, and sometimes not speaking the local language is no fun...

Well Canada just implemented a chart for travelers:

so the story goes on. after last nights landing in baltimore instead of jfk, the flight connection to europe was missed. duh. the plane landed in a different city. anwyho, delta rebooked the ticket for tomorrow. now its time to check in. but it wont work. so i call delta asking whats up, and find out they have to rebook the ticket once more, and they wonder in the process "why was the connecting flight missed yesterday". I explain that it was missed because the frigging plane landed 3 hours late and in the wrong frigging state. which somehow is a SURPRISE to them.
they now rebooked the ticket and also told me that the luggage that was on the original flight from Orlando to JFK will be on the plane tomorrow to Europe. If not, I swear to god, I will take the time to sue them. It has now been a dozen of phone calls, several hours of my time, landing in the wrong city, delays by more than a day both ways, endless time on hold, train ticket from Baltimore to JFK, expense at hotel, speaking to at least 5 different Delta agents in the last 3 days. if they throw lost luggage on top of it, amgonna lose it.

I doubt any of this really happened but if so I may actually reconsider my disbelief in karma.

When I was working out the checkin in last night on the phone with the agent, I asked if the luggage from Orlando is going to be on the flight from JFK tonight to Europe even though there was the sneaks in Baltimore. they said yes but said it very quickly it’s almost suspicious - I almost want to bet the luggage didn’t make it to JFK from Baltimore OR will not be on the plane to Europe...Something felt off about it all...

You voted to live to 100 year and get a lot of time ahead of you (meaning much more time to wait for Delta to get their shit straight) while you could have gotten a million and bought a private jet to stop wasting time and energy with that situation!
Who's laughing now? ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

luggage finally made it. so lets take a holistic view:
1. inbound leg one flight delayed by one day, but only after that total scam attempt of delta trying to move the flight to an earlier time (!) and downgrade to coach (!!) by sending an email at night and only 10 hour before the flight (!!!)
2. inbound leg 2 flight delayed by 2.5 hours.
3. outbound leg 1 flight delayed by 2 hours AND landed in the wrong city
4. outbound leg 2 delayed by one day.
5. time spent on calls with Delta: 148 minutes. time spent waiting for Delta callbacks: 7.5 hours I kid you not.
6. extra money spent - 550 usd (train from baltimore to NYC, taxis from and to airport since the passenger is in wheelchair) and extra hotel.
7. international calls: at least 140 usd worth
8. energy wasted, night time calls instead of sleeping, mental damage due to all the stress and rescheduling: immense.
9. oh and luggage delayed by 2 days.
wanna fly Delta, anyone?
Now imagine you are a wheelchair needing senior person that doesnt speak english So well. What a nightmare this was.

so today the flight was delayed by 3 hours, aargh. furthermore a small item fell into the passenger seat and could not be retrieved back by the passenger or the crew. the crew was going to call the mechanics to take the seat apart but were unable to provide a clear instruction how to get the item from them then. they said to go to claims at the landing airport. at 1am after 19 hours of travel. at the claims they refer the passanger back to delta. called detla who told me to report it to lost ans found at the airport. gave me number. called that number who told me they dont deal with items lost on board and i must contact the airlines. now airlines told me to fill out a form and wait for a week or so. time spent on the phone or waiting for answers or callback again over an hour. motherefin delta. never again. Sounds like you got some bad juju happenin' Nora.
Perhaps with the first class ticket issue, they may have someone who they felt was a VIP and urgently needed a seat, so they cancel another passengers, such as yours.
It is a bit rude how this was dealt with by delta and the ideal thing to happen is to have given you an upgrade to business at coach price, or first class at business price.
I don’t think that was it because the passenger needs wheelchair to move around and the airline knows it since they arrange for it so what kind of VIP would that be to kick off a disabled person. John Lennon resurrected? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
