One makes sense. The other has investigators baffled. Found this story, seems pretty intriguing. Happened near my home city. Basically, two boys were found dead in the early morning hours on July 17, 2002. It was a Wednesday, but investigators believe they were walking home from a field party (which is a rural high school staple.) Scott Fosnaught, one of the boys, was found deceased with obvious signs of having been hit by a car. His injuries were consistent with a vehicular accident around 1:30 A.M. So his death is considered to be (mostly) non-suspicious. The other boy, Shawn Bauer, did not have injuries that would normally indicate death by vehicular means. From the PG article: There were some questions surrounding Bauer's death last night. The Allegheny County coroner's office said Bauer died of head injuries. That kind of injury is not typical of someone who was struck by a car. The Allegheny County coroner's office said the manner of death was pending an investigation. No skid marks, broken glass or vehicle parts were found at the scene, Michalski said. The boys, who lived on nearby Watters Station Road, left a friend's house on Cashdollar Road around 1 a.m., Michalski said. Fosnaught and Bauer had spent the evening with three or four friends at a nearby pond, according to David and Lucy Macher, whose son Brian was with them at the pond. After the gathering broke up, Fosnaught and Bauer went to the home of Danny Rice, where they were last seen before they were found on Cashdollar Road, the Machers said. Rice lives on Cashdollar Road. So what happened? My theory is that one of them (Bauer) had been in a fight and had an unrelated head injury. The two articles below give conflicting information about which boy was which. I've used the older article in this write-up, but it could be the other way around. butlerradio.com/still-unsolved-17-years-since-two-teens-died-in-forward-twp/old.post-gazette.com/neigh_north/20020718doublefatal4.asp
