Jacob Allen Boyd was a devoted father who had shared custody of his two children with his ex-wife. He was described by his younger sister Jamie as having been depressed, having lost both their parents in a relatively short amount of time. Jake had a history of alcohol problems and had made numerous attempts to remain sober, he was described as a patient and kind individual. He last spoke to family on 5th January 2017 and nothing was indicated to be unusual. He was thirty-six years old at the time.
According to Jake's roommate he was last seen on 11th January 2017, in Columbus, Ohio but this cannot be confirmed. Jake was in the process of moving out and starting a new job, his luck seemed to have turned around since the divorce and loss of his previous job.The roommate claims Jake left with two individuals in a car but Jake's own car, phone and other belongings were left behind.
Jaimie reports that Jake's roommate blocked her (I'm guessing on Facebook) after initially being helpful and gave conflicting accounts of why Jake's car was still there from saying there was a mechanical problem to Jake being too drunk to drive. Continuing in their odd behaviour the roommate also threw away Jake's phone and ipad despite Jake's whereabouts still being unaccounted for. Jake had been behind on the rent but his roommate seems to have made no attempt to sell the items previously mentioned. This problem sharing the rent apparently caused tensions between the roommate and Jake. The police examined Jake's car and the doors were found unlocked, but had not searched the flat for traces of a struggle. The roommate has claimed to police that Jake had started taking drugs but this assertion has been questioned by the family due to the earlier inconsistencies in the roommate's story and odd behaviour. Jaime has tried contacting hospitals and coroners near where Jake lived but hasn't found anything.
Did Jake intentionally leave with these two unidentified people? If so then who were they? If Jake has been murdered or committed suicide then where is his body? Without his car he probably wouldn't be able to travel far.
