They're likely out of the ideation phase and ready to commit to a script based on the preferred treatment.

Didn't they announce that Tom King and Ava DuVernae were to be co-writers back in may ( www.slashfilm.com/new-gods-movie-script/)? That was just two months ago. I am sure there was a treatment written just to sell the project to investors, though.
