Suicide rates were at an all-time low in the late 90s.
Pre 911 Barely anytime spent online Booming economy Video Games, music, movies, tv, were all very fun
So of course people weren't killing themselves there was no reason to.

I would love to relive the 90's. It's my favorite era.

Also the matrix said it was the peak of our civilization. I think really that title should go to the 80s though.

Yes if people spent any time online it was chat rooms for a quick laugh. The mystery of the internet made it more intriguing.

I think some of it is that all of this modern political crap (things are so polarizing nowadays) was not there back then either as the left has went off the rails in the last 10, maybe 20 years, or so. basically society has declined in the last 10-20 years or so (which I tend to mostly attribute to society is becoming more godless as once you remove God and His moral order from things, chaos tends to take over, and that's pretty much what's happening especially on the left). or just look how far society as a whole has fallen morally since roughly the 1960's. sure, some stuff has gotten better since then but a lot has gotten worse etc.
but anyways, the politic stuff aside... I guess times were a bit simpler back then, at least it seemed that way, as I was a teenager for most of the 1990's and as far as the internet goes that never really went mainstream til 1998-2000 (which I think is similar with cell phones to) as according to the person who installed our high speed internet, which was in the year 2000, I was one of the first to get installed in the area which should give you a rough indication of when computers/internet etc got popular. I had internet since 1995 though which was about 3-5 years before it went mainstream. so while I was not online in the very early days, I was there a fair amount before it really took off. but one could basically say the 1990's was the last decade that was at least somewhat pre-internet/modern tech etc as I suspect people were generally more active outside to unlike today where people seem to be glued to a screen a bit too much. I think that's especially true once smart phones became common as it seems many are addicted to them etc which it appears 2007 was their introduction, but lets just say roughly a decade now they have been fairly common. I would not mind if smart phones disappeared in some ways (as humanity was better off in some ways prior to the smart phone era as it helped force people to interact more etc) even though that obviously won't happen.
personally... while I do have some solid nostalgia for video games in the 1990's (which is probably the bulk of my nostalgia) I would say video games pretty much peaked for me somewhere around the mid-1990's through the mid-2000's for the most part which seems to mostly play inline with the transition from 2D-to-3D and lingered for a while before they started recycling crap but with just better graphics as graphics can only take things so far etc.
but as far as general TV goes... I think the 2000's+ definitely wins here as it seems like The Sopranos (1999-2007) was the start of quality drama for the most part.
even in terms of movies I would rank the more recent decades like this... 1)2000's 2)1990's 3)2010's. which is my top 3 decades in general for movies.
but I will say that in terms of blockbuster stuff I think the 1980's and 1990's, for me it's going to be the 1990's since I would be pretty much too young to really remember the 1980's well as movies like Twister (1996) etc where solid blockbuster types that you just don't see anymore as it's mostly filled with forgettable super hero junk etc.
Yeah, I would agree as the 1990's was the last decade before modern tech began to dominate.
I would not be surprised if some of this is do to people are more isolated nowadays as the more people are on tech the less they will interact with people and I would have to assume it's in our nature to be around people, at least a fair amount etc, as we are not designed to be alone, at least not for too long and interaction with people online is not the same as in person.

None of this is true. You all were just kids. That's why it seems better. Just as the 80s and 70s for older adults. Things always seem better when you don't have to worry about anything.

I gave proof did you not read the thread? The suicide rate was really low, that means life was better it's a fact.

Everybody thinks things were better when they were kids. why do you keep saying that? this has nothing to do with being a kid I'm basing this off suicide rate which means people were less depressed that means they were happier this isn't rocket science here buddy

Happens to everyone. Then they try to rationalize it some other way.

I also think the 90s was the best decade. I was in my 20s for most of it. Fun times for sure.
