Any fans of Metallica's "Ride The Lightning" album? How has it held up for you after 35 years?
If it's not the top album for Metallica fans, it's surely right near it. It's probably my second favorite album of Metallica after Master of Puppets. Kill 'Em All was a solid debut, but this album took things to a whole different level. More focused songwriting, tighter playing, all the band members maturing and having moments to shine, etc. So many classic songs like Fade to Black, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Creeping Death, Call of Ktulu, etc. The only song that's the weakest on here is Escape, but it's not that bad. The album wouldn't feel whole if it were missing. 8 songs of pure power from Metallica and the best was yet to come. Just a top-notch album practically from start to finish.

It's certainly my favourite Metallica album, and by some distance. I don't dig it out often, but the title track and "Trapped Under Ice" I can still recall every moment of.

As I said over on the Rock forum, this is the album that introduced me to Metallica, and it's excellent. "Master of Puppets" is still my favorite of theirs, and the only one I rebought on CD. I have considered rebuying "Ride the Lightning", but these days I am more interested in buying new albums than rebuying old ones.

It's my third favorite Metallica Album after "...And Justice For All", and "Master of Puppets" . I love "For Whom The Bell Tolls", and "Fight Fire with Fire" (especially the intro).
