Apparently, Miss McMahan, at the tender age of 17, won a contest that gave her the opening slot on the Bon Jovi tour all across her native land, Australia.
Rather than do what promoters were trying to do, which was rush out some product into the pop market while people still remembered her, she took her time, went back to small clubs, worked on her songwriting and delivery.
She's ready to present herself now. What do you think?

PASTA.
After the first verse or so I had to search out a lyric sheet for the song. I could get some of the words but not all. Her singing style is laid back but not lazy or affected like some young female singers who seem to think it necessary to slur every line. Her delivery seemed quite natural to my ears.
The two chords at the beginning reminded me of Crimson and Clover a little, and I liked it. Usually I'll let the song play and read the lyric sheet in the open tab, but the video is quite engaging so demands a watch, so I played the song twice, once reading the lyrics, once watching the vid. Very strong mature voice.
I've deliberately not looked her up so I don't know if she plays instruments but I'm guessing she almost certainly does. Once I've earholed the other two songs I'll look her up and see what it's all about. I don't want to overkill on all three tracks at once, I'd rather appreciate it as a track per day. But in the meantime I think she did well to wait and prepare herself. What do I think? On the strength of one track, pretty interesting and exciting. A good find, Mr Krippen.

Angie McMahan writes the songs, is lead vocal and plays guitar.
Angie McMahon - Pasta
My bedroom is a disaster My dog has got kidney failure (failure) I've been sitting at the bar too much Kissing people in my head And saying rubbish things I should not have said
And they're building things outside my window Everywhere I look there's signposts (signposts) I just sit in my house making noise for fun And I'm not moving much Or proving much to anyone, no
I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost for a while And I'm feeling tired
I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost for a while
And I spend so much time eating pasta Although I'm probably allergic and other People seem to move so much faster
I wonder why I'm feeling lonely When there's plenty of ways to be alone I guess I spent all of yesterday on my phone
I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost for a while And I'm feeling tired
I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost for a while
Now I am simultaneously on top of someone's pedestal And also underneath someone else's shoe Oh isn't it a shame about the view Can anybody climb aboard this structure I have made to Wrap myself around the promise that there is room Oh isn't it a shame about the view
I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost for a while And now I'm feeling tired
I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost for a while But now I'm really trying
I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost for a while But I'm really trying
I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost I've been lost for a while

KEEPING TIME.
It's not often at all that I hear something new and am excited by it. This is hardly a surprise as for a number of years now I have not gone out of my way to search out good new stuff (I caught an exciting band last year called October Drift who were supporting Echobelly in London, and they f***ing really excited me) But no radio, no music press reviews, I'm done with that for the time being, I feel I've got enough familiar stuff to be going on with and can't be bothered sifting through the crap to find a gem. So it's good to come by an act like this - fresh, invigorating, very much her own woman. Yeah, I like it. I was excited by the intro to this song and it kept up good throughout. I still wish she sang a little clearer but hey she wouldn't be her if she did that. This is a fresh little number.

AND I AM A WOMAN.
I am not overall keen on this third track. With the assistance of a lyric sheet I was able to follow the narrative but the clipped, half-executed vocals in the first two verses merely grated on me. It sounded like she was mumbling to herself in the bath. The third verse came alive and illustrated the power of her voice and it made me wonder at the earlier coyness in it. I wouldn't expect her to be bawling all the way through every song but this style of quiet/slurring/unclear singing is not something I enjoy. With the first track the style sounded natural but in this live performance it came across as contrived. Her voice range is good, from the wispy sighs to the deep grunts here and there. But on the strength of these songs I'd much prefer her studio recordings. At any rate, I'm going to seek out more material by her. Thanks, Krippen.

As chance would have it, Angie McMahon is playing in Dublin tomorrow night (Monday) at The Workman's Club. I can't see any additional dates until she is back in Australia in October. It looks like she may have been and gone in the UK. She played The Slaughtered Lamb in 2018 and The Hug & Pint earlier this year. Tickets for Dublin are just €13 or £11.90 or US$14.50. In November the tour continues to the US (Illinois, Ohio, NY, Mass, CT, PA, DC, and PA & NY again) You've surely already heard this one, a gritty little number, edgy and steely.

Thanks for the updates, video and lyrics. Yeah, I've picked up her 2019 release Salt and her other previous release, the ep knows as A Couple of Songs which Missing Me (it's on Salt too) is on. Your video is not allowed to be viewed here in the states so I went and looked for it and found it here. It seems to have been put up by Miss McMahon herself. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6NONj_UyKgShe says this about the song.
