Anybody seen this movie? Any thoughts?
The TV ads when it came out didn't really go into a lot of details so I never really got what it was about. I just recently decided to look it up, and the trailer says 'from the man who brought you The House on Haunted Hill', and yeah you watch that trailer you see about 100 references to that movie. So I'm guessing the idea they were going for was KIND of like the Ring, you watch the tape you die in 7 days, you go to this website you die in 2 days, and both came out in the same year, is that a coincidence?
Anyway, if you saw the movie, what did you think of it?

From what little I recall, perhaps a dull blend of any number of Ringu-ish j-horror and Strangeland.

Well it's in the IMDB bottom 100 so it hasn't had a lot of love but i didn't think it was that bad but it is forgettable and didn't quite work for me. I rated it 4/10

I... Actually kinda like it. The cinematography is beautiful. Love the gothic atmosphere. Natasha Mcelhone is adorable. It's basically another take on the Asian curse type films. Not a masterpiece by any means. But I enjoyed it.

As I recall, this predated the 'murican Ring and that whole J-Horror fascination here in the states (by at least 5 months?). But yeah, other than that, I recall it being a big hunk of crap and I don't care to revisit it.

The first time I read through the description of it I misunderstood who was behind the website and thought that it was the killer himself running it, tracking whoever visited it, and killing them. Which kind of makes sense if you're that tech savvy. It also reminds me of an episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent with a serial killer who would kidnap couples, and tie them up opposite each other, and give one of them a gun, and a choice, either they shoot their spouse or in 30 seconds he will shoot them, and he recorded every 'experiment'. The surviving spouse was released back in the woods to be found, and a story that nobody would believe. With only one exception, all other test subjects chose to die themselves, the woman who shot her husband was charged with murder.

I watched it many years ago and it was completely forgettable.
