It's directed by Michael Ritchie who also directed my favourite football movie, 'Wildcats' (1986), but I could never really get into 'Semi-Tough'.

Has anyone mentioned "The Best of Times" yet? I thought it was pretty good.

Have you seen Any Given Sunday? If not, just imagine Oliver Stone's take on the politics of football with a huge cast and you will have an idea of what to expect. A couple times. Never really got into it, the iconic Willie Beaman song notwithstanding. I forgot about Brian's Song. Probably the straightest football movie I like. Another one we're all forgetting, or just not counting: Jerry Maguire. As for football movies, I think we had a similar discussion on baseball with Field of Dreams. I find most sport movies heavily predicated on the audience's enjoyment of their sport. Or maybe I'm just being closeminded when I watch a them. If I am engaged in the actual story, then it doesn't matter if I am interested in the subject matter in some cases. I mean most sports movies are more about the characters playing the sport than the sport itself. Like all those fucking social commentary Disney sports movies. Like they are about overcoming diversity and stuff. They are often tacky and generic. Any Given Sunday, well I am a Oliver Stone fanboy. He could film someone skipping rocks for 2 hours and find a way to make it compelling. Field of Dreams is far from the usual sports movie. There is a reason it is the only non-boxing related sports movie that is among my favorite movies.

Peter Berg's Friday Night Lights (2004) is my favorite football film (HANDS DOWN). It literally captured just how crazy people in Texas are about football. Also featured some damn good performances by Billy Bob Thornton, Derek Luke, Garrett Hedlund and Tim McGraw.
8.5/10

Our main man here is Philadelphia Eagles fullback Cecil Martin. Great guy, always trending high.
