Sure, there's one more preseason weekend left. But who cares about that? Not this guy. Let's get started.
Week 1
Rules: simply pick the winner of each game listed. No score required (though a little added commentary on your picks won't be discouraged). You must make your picks before the first game of the week (usually Thursday Night Football) to be eligible for all the games. If you miss Thursday, you can still make picks for Saturday/Sunday games. If you haven't picked the Sunday games by the start of the first game (1pm EST), your picks won't count.
If I've liked your post, consider your picks logged and recorded. So if you want to change them, best tell me in another post.
Thursday September 5th 8:20pm EST Green Bay @ Chicago
Sunday September 8th 1:00pm Washington @ Philadelphia Buffalo @ NY Jets Atlanta @ Minnesota Baltimore @ Miami Kansas City @ Jacksonville Tennessee @ Cleveland LA Rams @ Carolina
4:05pm Cincinnati @ Seattle Indianapolis @ LA Chargers
4:25pm San Francisco @ Tampa Bay NY Giants @ Dallas Detroit @ Arizona
8:20pm Pittsburgh @ New England
Monday September 9th 7:10pm Houston @ New Orleans
10:20pm Denver @ Oakland

Thursday September 5th 8:20pm EST Green Bay @ ChicagoI think we find out how terrible Green Bay will be right off the bat. Sunday September 8th 1:00pm Washington @ Philadelphia Don't like Washington at all. Buffalo @ NY Jets Who knows here, just a guess. Atlanta @ Minnesota Will Atlanta ever return to form? Baltimore @ Miami Miami could be the worst team in the NFL. Kansas City @ Jacksonville I think Kansas City has beefed up their defense. Tennessee @ Cleveland Cleveland picks up where they left off, for a while at least. LA Rams @ Carolina Probably no Cam Newton, he's too busy thinking about Andrew Luck. 4:05pm Cincinnati @ SeattleIndianapolis @ LA Chargers Chargers get all the Luck. 4:25pm San Francisco @ Tampa BayNY Giants @ Dallas They'll be screaming for that new QB already. Detroit @ Arizona Somebody's got to win this game, right? 8:20pm Pittsburgh @ New England We learn a lot about Pittsburgh. Monday September 9th 7:10pm Houston @ New Orleans10:20pm Denver @ Oakland

Here are my picks for week 1
Bears over Packers - Bears defense will be too strong for the Packers to overcome.
Eagles over Redskins - Eagles explosive offense will demolish the Redskins.
Bills over Jets - Bills have an improved team, Jets look subpar again, Bills win.
Falcons over Vikings - Falcons will have a rebound year and will outscore the Vikings in a high scoring game.
Dolphins over Ravens - Interesting matchup, I’m unsure of what to make of either team, but I’ll take the Fins because they are at home and I think their underrated defense will stop the Ravens questionable offense.
Chiefs over Jaguars - Another intriguing matchup, hard game to pick, but I’ll take the Chiefs because they are a better all around team.
Browns over Titans - Browns have more talent on both sides of the ball and will get the win.
Rams over Panthers - Rams offense will make enough plays to outscore the Panthers.
Seahawks over Bengals - Seahawks rushing attack will overpower the Bengals and they are at home where they are very hard to beat.
Chargers over Colts - Chargers defense will slow down the Luck-less Colts.
Buccaneers over 49ers - Another hard game to pick, but I think the Bucs potent passing attack will light up the Niners secondary.
Cowboys over Giants - Cowboys are far more talented.
Lions over Cardinals - The underrated Lions will come out strong against a rebuilding Cardinals team.
Patriots over Steelers - Pats have more talent on both sides of the ball and will win convincingly.
Saints over Texans - Saints are at home and have slightly more talent.
Raiders over Broncos - Raiders will come out surprisingly strong and win big over a weak Broncos team.

Thursday September 5th 8:20pm EST Green Bay @ Chicago: Chicago
Sunday September 8th 1:00pm Washington @ Philadelphia: Philadelphia Buffalo @ NY Jets: Jets Atlanta @ Minnesota: Atlanta Baltimore @ Miami: Baltimore Kansas City @ Jacksonville: KC Tennessee @ Cleveland: Cleveland LA Rams @ Carolina: LA Rams
4:05pm Cincinnati @ Seattle: Seattle Indianapolis @ LA Chargers: LA Chargers
4:25pm San Francisco @ Tampa Bay: San Francisco NY Giants @ Dallas: Giants Detroit @ Arizona: Detroit
8:20pm Pittsburgh @ New England: New England
Monday September 9th 7:10pm Houston @ New Orleans: New Orleans
10:20pm Denver @ Oakland: Oakland
The first four weeks are usually a clusterfuck because teams are still in tune up mode and warming up so expect some weirdness. Not to mention the referees like to screw up a bunch of stuff in these early months. It will take a while for everyone to settle down and you can start seeing the patterns and which teams are winners and pretenders.
Packers have issues. I look to Chicago to take advantage. Eagles theoretically should blast the Redskins. Siding with the Jets as always. Falcons beat out the Vikes in a close one. Ravens knock down the Phins. Chiefs beat the Jags. Cleveland needs to get all the wins they can early in the season. They draw an easy detail as the Titans were supposed to have been terrible during the draft.
Rams take down the Panthers in a shootout. Seahawks aren't as good as they used to be but the Bungels have fallen far. Seattle squashes them. Niners got their starting QB back and they get the win. Ugh! Giants are always playing the Boys on opening week! Giants in a close one and that all depends on Eli not turning the ball over and their late game defense collapses allowing Dallas to escape out the back door with the win. Colts lost Luck basically seconds to curtain time so the Chargers destroy an out of control ship that needs a new captain at the helm.
Cardinals are a mess. Detroit takes it. Steelers are in trouble. Patriots take them down though I wouldn't be surprised to see these two facing each other again in the post season. Saints blast apart the Texans. Oakland and Denver suck. Going with Oakland who after purposely tanking last season, you would think they were able to build something through the draft.

I'm in, just have to check injuries before I make my picks. I do know that the Vikings came out of preseason relatively injury free for the first time since God invented dirt. Thanks sdm3 for taking this on again for year two.

Thanks sdm3 for taking this on again for year two. You didn't hear about Thielen?? (just kidding... but Matt Ryan is my fantasy QB this year so I'm hoping for a shootout...)

Thursday September 5th 8:20pm EST Green Bay @ Chicago - I think this will be a good game much like Week 1 last season. I think the Packers Offense will create some interesting ways to try and trick the Bears defense. HaHa Clinton Dix will get burned at least once on either a big play or a touchdown. I think it'll be like a 21-17 type score. Packers best chance to win this game imo is if their defense is as improved as many are hoping. I think the new offense will take til week 3 or 4 to really get going.
Sunday September 8th 1:00pm Washington @ Philadelphia - Case Keenum vs Wentz? Yeah, this should be easy given how many weapons Wentz has this year.
Buffalo @ NY Jets - I got Buffalo as a possible sleeper team this year. I think they're the 2nd best team in the AFC East.
Atlanta @ Minnesota - Hearing mixed things about the Falcons offensive line. Some say it should be great and others saying it looks like garbage in preseason. I'll take the Vikings here because they're at home and Cousins isn't in prime time.
Baltimore @ Miami - Miami is probably one of the bottom 3 teams in the league. I hope we see Rosen start but not week one against Baltimore's D.
Kansas City @ Jacksonville - Going for a shocking one here. I really think the Chiefs regress' this year, offense especially.
Tennessee @ Cleveland -They're the darlings going into the season. Let's see if they can live up to it.
LA Rams @ Carolina - This is tough because idk what Gurley or Cam's injuries are looking like going into week 1. However I think LA has the better team despite on the road cross country.
4:05pm Cincinnati @ Seattle - Cincy sucks and will be there with Miami.
Indianapolis @ LA Chargers - Go Chargers Go!
4:25pm San Francisco @ Tampa Bay - Not a believer in Jimmy G atm. I think Arians puts together a good game for the Buccs but I don't see them repeating this week in and week out because Jameis is too turnover prone and inconsistent.
NY Giants @ Dallas - Giants have Eli and no longer have OBJ or Landon Collins. Dallas has a good defense. Even if Zeke doesn't play I think Dallas wins this one.
Detroit @ Arizona - Kerryon Johnson is going to go off in this game.
8:20pm Pittsburgh @ New England - We're going to get the "Is Tom Brady done?" and "Is the New England dynasty finished?" right out the gate this year which will once again likely be pre-mature. But hot takes are the YouTube comments of media. All that matters is who was "first".
Monday September 9th 7:10pm Houston @ New Orleans - Should be a good game. Brees slowed down last year. Was his age getting to him or was it just the season wearing on him? Either way I think he looks good at home in the dome and being week 1.
10:20pm Denver @ Oakland - I think Oakland could be sneaky mediocre this year.

Green Bay @ Chicago - BEARS have enough talent on defense to ruin LaFleur's first game.
Washington @ Philadelphia - EAGLES get off to a good start as Keenum has another unpleasant time in Philly.
Buffalo @ NY Jets - JETS have a feel-good story beginning as their new acquisitions shine and Darnold looks improved. Atlanta @ Minnesota - FALCONS win a shootout benefitting from the return of Devonta Freeman.
Baltimore @ Miami - RAVENS steamroll Fitzpatrick's Dolphins.
Kansas City @ Jacksonville - Jaguars defense looks decent but Foles can't outduel Mahomes and the CHIEFS get the win.
Tennessee @ Cleveland - BROWNS look like making good on their off-season promise.
LA Rams @ Carolina - Despite a huge game from McCaffrey, the RAMS pull off the win.
Cincinnati @ Seattle - Zac Taylor's Bengals look overwhelmed in Seattle. SEAHAWKS win due to their bulldozing running game.
Indianapolis @ LA Chargers - CHARGERS have enough talent to get past a resilient Colts defense.
San Francisco @ Tampa Bay - Arians gets the BUCCANEERS off to a winning start as the aerial attack torches the SF secondary.
NY Giants @ Dallas - COWBOYS limit Saquon's damage, while Eli doesn't inspire much confidence.
Detroit @ Arizona - I don't think much of Kingsbury and Murray, but if there's any defensive mind they have a chance of stumping on the first week, it's Matt Patricia. CARDINALS win.
Pittsburgh @ New England - PATRIOTS show that this is the best defense they've had in years. Ben looks creaky.
Houston @ New Orleans - Business as usual for the Texans; in other words. Watson runs for his life. Michael Thomas and the SAINTS terrorize Houston's secondary.
Denver @ Oakland - The toughest choice, but I think Carr looks rejuvenated and Antonio Brown puts the clownish off-season antics behind him with a huge game. RAIDERS win.

Jay Cutler will be in attendance for the Packers/Bears game. I may have to change my pick based on this alone. My wife watches Very Cavallari, so therefore I watch it. I never knew anything about Cutler off of the field. My wife, not knowing anything about football and only ever seeing him on this show, loves him. I don’t get it. I can’t even describe him. He seems smart and stupid at the same time. If he was an Eagle I would have wanted him dropped in a vat of acid.

There was a while when that show first started that people were raving about Jay Cutler's "I don't give a fuck" mentality. However that's the same mentality that people ostracized him for during his playing career. He reminds me of a Basset Hound with that droopy face and with the personality of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. All that said, as a Packers fan he is my all time favorite Bear. Loved playing against that guy.
