During an exclusive Screen Rant interview with Shea Whigham for his latest film, Small Engine Repair, the topic of McQuarrie and Cruiseโs love for cinema came up as Whigham explained his M:I7 experience and why the film will be โvery good." Read what Whigham said below: "...It was pretty incredible. Tom and Chris McQuarrie are -- you know what's interesting? In ways, you think this huge canvas of 'Mission Impossible' would be a lot different from what we did here (Small Engine Repair), and I'm not being facetious in this answer, there's a lot different obviously, but there's a lot the same because Cruise and McQuarrie, they're cinephiles, they're always chasing story and character and they're always wanting to know where the pressure lies from the scene before going into the next scene. So there were these creative conversations that we would have ourselves in something as intimate as 'Small Engine Repair.' It's going to be very good because those guys don't make bad movies." screenrant.com/mission-impossible-7-shea-whigham-opinion-reaction/

Excited beyond belief for this incredible franchise to keep topping itself (thatโs what she said).
These movies will be great. No way around it.

Tom Cruise is seen performing yet another dangerous stunt for Mission: Impossible 8 (via Fox News), this time riding on the outside of a 1941 Boeing B75N1 Stearman biplane at 2,000 feet, which flipped upside down, putting the actor upright on the wing. According to Fox, Cruise has been taking flying lessons to prepare the sequence. The images show the actor performing the stunt himself in a series of photos that outline the stunt shot-by-shot. screenrant.com/mission-impossible-8-images-tom-cruise-airplane-stunt/

My guess is Paramount wants Top Gun to be the only Tom Cruise movie they release this year.

Wow. Those Covid delays and restrictions inflated that number to a near-insurmountable hill to climb once you take into account the marketing and budget required for 8 just a year later. I wonder what both would have to make for them to be considered real box office successes for the studio? $800 million each at least?
