Ticked off my 16 FTVs with "The House of Exorcism"... which is pretty nuts, in an interesting way.
Apparently, it is a re-editing of "Lisa and the Devil", with the added exorcism bits.
Anyone seen both films? What's the difference?
And why does Telly Savalas always crop up in one of my October Challenge FTVs 🤷♀️ When he is on screen, all I can think is 'Why is Kojak in this film?'

moviemouth - pretty much second moviebuffbrad’s comments regarding ‘Darkman’. In some ways the transformation of Neeson’s character fighting his own sanity reminds me of Claude Rains‘ in ‘The Invisible Man’. So I got no issue with it. FridayOnElmStreet I noticed you watched ‘Doom: Annihilation’, and I’m sort of curious. How did you find it? Your rating is a little higher than what I’ve seen from most others. Doom: Annihilation is absolutely mindless but is amusing enough to sit through. Im not that familiar with the game but I know enough about it to get whats going on. I get why its rated so low but its not an awful film. Its just basically pretty generic. Mostly just a shoot em up zombie/alien film. I was impressed that the aliens were made with practical effects and not CGI. So basically its pretty bland yet I have seen so much worse.

Mark of the Astro-Zombies (2004) (First time viewing) Terror Level: None I'm in awe of how Ted V. Mikels was able to make the second Astro-Zombies movie worse than the first! While both movies are talkative what happened in the first movie sort of moved the plot forward. This movie is even more nonsensical. At least when I watched the first movie it felt like a film. Mark of the Astro-Zombies feels like a long YouTube video someone made. And the computer animation is the dirt worst. And at the very least the first film had John Carradine. I don't know why we get Liz Renay describing how the zombies look (incorrectly) when we get to see them running around killing people. There's little logic to this film. If like like dudes running around in alien masks and jeans macheting people in the neck over and over and over and over and over again this is the film for you. Mikels was able to spew out two more of these movies before he died. I don't know how I'm going to retain my sanity. 1/10. Oh wow. I worked with the guy who played the lead. Didn't expect to see one of his movies on here.

Since my last post, I have watched the following:
Kung Fu Zombie (1981)
Underworld: Evolution (2006)
Victor Frankenstein (2015)
The Black Cat (1966)
Sublime (2007)
I'd say I had the most fun with Kung Fu Zombie, an irreverent and slapstick-heavy combo of martial arts, comedy, and horror.

10 films into the Challenge. Figured that I'd list a few that have been notable for one reason or another:
Mulberry St. 6.55732/10-very low budget variation on the "infected" theme, but it did a lot with a little, and had lots of enthusiasm. The gritty low-budgetness of it sort of added to the creepy feel. Worth a look.-(either Netflix or Amazon, can't remember which).
We Have Always Lived In The Castle 8.06132/10-Very good adaptation of a great Shirley Jackson story that stays quite faithful to the source material, with one or two notable exceptions. More suspense than horror.-Netflix
The Witch 9.35317/10-A simply excellent horror film. Tense, well acted, beautifully shot with meticulous period detail. Probably too slow moving for some, but just about pitch perfect for me.-Netflix
Gothic 6.38477/10- It's a Ken Russell film. So, it's bizarre, stylish, visually lush, and, as is typical of his work, it plunges ahead with an overwrought, reckless abandon that drags you along in spite of itself and you. Not Russell's best work(that would be The Devils), but worth a look if you dig KR's particular flavor of cinematic lunacy.-Amazon
Annihilation 7.79137/10- Very good sci-fi/horror from the writer/director of Ex Machina. Thought provoking, well written, and beautifully shot, with strong performances all around.-Amazon
He Never Died 7.72847/10- Another well-hidden gem. Darkly funny, viscerally violent, and the lead played in pitch-perfect fashion by Henry Rollins. Definitely recommended.-Netflix
Peace.

Saw St. Agatha (2018) and In the Tall Grass (2019) yesterday streaming on Netflix.
St. Agatha was pure crap and really stupid. I hated every second of it.
Am a bit ambivalent about In the Tall Grass. Starts out with real promise, gets better, lags and is annoying toward the middle/end - end was pretty good. Could have benefited by editing off about 15 to 20 minutes.

Finally got in my first FTV this month with The Amityville Horror '05. I actually prefer it to the original, although there are things I like about the original more, for instance James Brolin was more effective in the role (although Reynolds was also great) and I much preferred it when you didn’t see Jodie because it adds to the mystery angle.
The reason I like this one more is for the fact that it isn’t boring at any point. It’s much faster paced, and rightfully so with the shorter running time. It gets things to the point and grabs your attention. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the first one but it’s way too slow and barely anything even happens. If you skipped this one or just haven’t gotten around to it, I recommend checking it out. So far it’s my second favourite next to II: The Possession.

Deathdream (1974) is absolutely haunting. And very sad. Bob Clarke made it around the same time he directed Black Christmas, but this one never gets talked about. Would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes 70s horror.
My Top 3 movies at this stage are the aforementioned Deathdream, The Babysitter (2017) and Alice, Sweet Alice (1976).
The Babysitter was just non-stop fun. A great (and bloody) lighthearted popcorn flick.

Not a fan of the 1979 film, but found the more fast-paced 2005 version a lot more entertaining. But of course Amityville II is the best of the bunch.

I gotta give Amityville II: The Possession the edge here. You just can't beat freaky incest and caterpillar eyebrows.

It tried to be self-aware but comes off as corny and while the plot with the brother was interesting the payoff has already been done before in this franchise. I won’t spoil what happens but I think you can guess the outcome. This was the movie they had to delay so many times? Well it wasn’t exactly worth it, but it coulda been worse.

Agree about in the tall grass...just finished it a bit ago and it starts off really cool...then a lot of the loopy stuff gets a little redundant feeling. Couldve trimmed a bit off. I did enjoy the ending but even that felt a little less impactful than it could have. Overall still pretty good tho.

Just caught the 2010 remake of I Spit On Your Grave. I'm usually against remakes but I was bit curious about this one, and I needed to watch a FTV so I thought what the hell. Wow, just wow. This could actually be considered more raw, nasty, and brutal than the original! The filmmakers certainly didn't pull any punches with all the graphic carnage. Not saying I actually liked it, but it was definitely work a look.
