Happy 50th anniversary to one of the greatest albums ever made. What is your favorite song from Abbey Road? Just like with Sgt. Pepper's & The White Album, a 50th anniversary mix has been released. Usually remixes don't really interest me that much, but because the last 2 Beatles ones were so great I decided to give this one a go as well. And wow, it sounds even better than the original album (as far as that's possible). Everything sounds clearer and more pristene, while still keeping the genuine and human feeling.
The second half of I Want You (She's So Heavy) is clearer/less muffled and therefore sounds significantly heavier than the original version, at least compared to the one available on Spotify. And Oh Darling also sounds so much better, I'm blown away. I'm not sure who's been doing these remixes, but hats off to them because they've done a great job with all of the 3 remixes so far. I might still prefer the more lo-fi sound of the original White Album to the more pristene remix, but the 2019 mixes of Abbey Road & Sgt. Pepper's are now my standard/definitive versions of the albums. Now we need the Rubber Soul & Revolver remix.

It's so audacious in its construct. My favourite Beatles album.

Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin, has been doing the remixes.

I don't know if I'd call the album a masterpiece, but I do think it's very good.

I love Octopuses Garden in all it's ridiculous glory. What can I say, I love a song that puts a big smile on my face.

Just listened to it. The mix if fantastic. Harrison's vocals on Something, Billy Preston's keyboards, Starr's drums, all sounded like they were done yesterday. Not as many extras as the Whit Album's re-release and some disappointing. McCartney's version of Come and Get It was on Anthology 3. Four excellent highlights...
1. The Ballad of John and Yoko. Paul and John joking with each other. Damn, I thought they hated each other by this time 2. Octopus's Garden. Ringo messes it up completely, "I came in too early. Or you all came in too late" 3. An orchestral version of Something. George Martin at his finest. 4. "The Long One". The whole medley in the intended order. Her Majesty where it should be, after Mean Mr. Mustard. Really nice, all 13+ minutes.
Nicely done for my favorite Beatles album. Even Maxwell's Silver Hammer, my least favorite Beatles song. I wonder what they'll do with Let It Be. Will the have parts of the Wall of Sound version and the Let It Be Naked? Will they release the movie. I read a rumor that they would but McCartney still wanted to edit out some of the nastier confrontations. Let it be, Paul. And, like Kevin said, do Rubber Soul and Revolver. Hell do all of the old albums.

I always like Ringo's token songs. Don't Pass Me By and Good Night from the White. A Little Help From My Friends, Yellow Submarine. He had a wonderful voice. Maybe the best...

It's a problematic album...After learning that the original concept was one side Lennon and one side Macca, with four George numbers interspersed, it made the Macca dominated end result less appealing...(I do like it, but it ranks around the middle of the pack)
Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" and "Old Brown Shoe" Lennon's "The Ballad of John and Yoko" and an extended "Polythene Pam" and Macca's "Come and Get It" making it instead of songs about Silver Hammers, Darlings and Octopus gardening may have been more interesting...They could have released Maxwell and Octopus as a double A single just before this album and let "Oh Darling" be a Paul solo song...
Maybe for the Let it Be box they could reconstruct what would have been the 'Get Back' album...
