Bitterweet feelings of yesterday and a better time, perhaps.
Anybody who was alive and semi-cognizant in 1973 received a blessing. These three get me every time. Is it just me or is this song really beautiful and up tempo?

I remember 'Rock The Boat' from radio. I don't think I heard any of their other songs, though.
Mine was released in 1972, but it didn't work its magic on me until 1973. There was this girl I liked on my school bus. For months we eyed and smiled at each other, too shy to talk because our friends were always around us.
On the last day of school I noticed her usual friend was absent, so she was sitting by herself. She had a transistor radio and it started playing this smooth Al Green song which I had always associated with her. It almost seemed like a sign. I knew if I didn't do something I wouldn't see her again until Fall. So I went over, sat with her. We started talking and later exchanged phone numbers. She became my first girlfriend and it was among the best Summers I ever had. This song will always hold a special place in my heart.

I prefer music which doesn't cause me to have a stroke... Can't argue with logic

I've always liked Al Green. He was soooo smooth and mellow. Nice. And that's a sweet story. Such a nice thing to get to experience!

Fell for a girl at camp. When I got home, I remember this song getting to me.

Beautiful story, Sulla. Glad it had a good outcome.

Sorry for posting so many but these affect me in different ways. There are a lot more I could post but I don't want to flood your thread.

Fire and Rain (1970), by James Taylor. Although the song is about a specific person, it always reminds me of those in my life whom I've loved and are gone. The opening guitar chords invariably bring tears, no matter how corny that might sound:

Hearing "Year of the Cat" by Al Stewart on my parents' radio. I heard it in 1977, and it was love at first listen. I liked the lyrics and the musical arrangement. Even the saxophone solo sounded classy.
