Also, Bobby seems to pay the price for his dismissive and condescending attitude towards the locals when they first arrive. That's true, Bobby was the worst of the four when it came to that. I love the moment when Ed is about to take some Mountain Man Meat and he sees Lewis aiming the arrow, silently urging him to fire. Very intense stuff.

I love the moment when Ed is about to take some Mountain Man Meat and he sees Lewis aiming the arrow, silently urging him to fire. Very intense stuff. Those redneck, inbred, hillbilly hicks would have dipped their wicks into anything, including farm animals. It was about amusement with them. Ned Beatty has to be one of the most unattractive actors around and he has the distinction of being raped by one of the most vile unattractive villains in movie history.
Do you know, that Vilmos Zsigmond wasn't even nominated for his cinematography. Butterflies Are Free was pretty much a filmed stage play and who has even heard of 1776 or Travels With My Aunt. Perhaps they were well shot, but so what!
Best Cinematography:
Cabaret - Geoffrey Unsworth (winner) 1776 - Harry Stradling Jr. Butterflies Are Free - Charles Lang The Poseidon Adventure - Harold E. Stine Travels with My Aunt - Douglas Slocombe Yeah, he should have been nominated. Love his work with Altman, Spielberg, Cimino, and De Palma.

I prefer RITUALS which was wrongly described as a Deliverance rip-off by Siskel and Ebert.
